Drew2 "blasts" Drew!
I do agree though, PTFA.
I don't because it's against the TOS, but I guess Ganalon never gets slapped down about it. Kranar did post a while back asking us not to do it though, if I remember correctly.

at least summarize it for us...
That I can do
An art teacher removed from the classroom for encouraging pupils not to eat meat vowed Monday not to return to Fox River Grove Middle School until it eliminates milk and all other animal products from the lunch menu.
Dave Warwak, 44, also said he plans to ask the McHenry County state's attorney to file child-endangerment charges against the school district because the school continues to promote milk and other animal products as part of a healthy diet.

What's against TOS? Posting the article of a story rather than just linking it? Where did you get that from? Actually we prefer that you post the article with the link because not everyone can visit every link posted.

Because the article is copyrighted, I swear I'm not making this up, Kranar did post at one time or another.

He is right... but it's not enforced, at all. It's just to cover Kranar's ass.

That isn't what the TOS says. It says do not upload/post anything you do not have a legal right to post. Legally we aren't allowed to copy an article and repost it here, doesn't matter if we credit the original or not.
It's like if I were to post the whole harry potter book on these forums and be like "source: real harry potter book". It's copyright infringement

If that were the case then you wouldnt be able to blog or link the story to any other web source period.
I think someone's interpreting the copyright a little on the conservative side.
Bottom line, its an excuse for being lazy.

Eesh.
FOX RIVER GROVE, Ill. - A vegan middle school teacher says he's not going back to class until the school stops serving milk and meat.
Dave Warwak has been a teacher at Fox River Grove Middle School for eight years.
The 44-year-old became a vegan in January and believes the school is "feeding poison" to students. He also believes the school's posters featuring milk are wrong.
Warwak says he won't return until the posters are removed. He's looked into filing child-endangerment charges because he claims it's wrong to promote animal products as part of healthy diet.
Warwak says he was asked to leave the school last week because he talked about animal-cruelty issues.
Superintendent Jacqueline Krause says Warwak wasn't fired.

Linking to a copyrighted source is fine, it's re-hosting it that's an issue.

I agree it certainly is just an excuse, all of my articles I repost, but I'm almost 1000% positive that legally we're not allowed to re-iterate the article, especially in its entirety. I think quoting portions is okay, but entire article re-hosting of copyrighted material is illegal. It would take a cease and desist before anything bad happened and it's extremely far fetched... again I really don't care, just saying technically he's right, but technically being right when you look like a monsterous tool isn't worth it.
I didn't realize not quoting the entire article made me look like a monstrous tool. I'm used to reading FARK where it's just a little headline and you click on pretty much every article to see if you want to read it.

Fark has a rule about not linking to registration articles. You would have been ripped apart harder on fark than you are here :)
And yes... Monsterous MONSTEROUS tool (please don't make me add italics)

You have 5,600+ posts. Surely you cant be serious that this is a recent revelation that you cant now post stories, nor should it be a new thing that most readers here prefer to see the story without having to click on a link... Especially those who read the PC from work. Anyone who has co-existed here on these boards would know that.
QUIT ACTING LIKE A NOOB!

This requires registration? It works for me without it, I've never registered at this site either. Well definitely my bad then, I hate when people post registration sites.
EDIT: I clicked the link and there's a login or register option, I'm not logged in nor have I registered. Anyway sorry about that again, registration links suck.

Did the first reply to your post elude you somehow? I think CTs was the third post to mention registration.

I would think that sites wanting you to register would be much more interested in copyright restrictions, even if not specifically focused on this particular forum.
Isn't this a little bit too much angst anyway, though?

Can I post the juicy(more idiotic)parts?
I am anyway.
Warwak said he was asked to leave school last week because he refused to stop discussing animal-cruelty issues with students. He gave his 8th-grade pupils a book, "The Food Revolution," by John Robbins, subtitled, "How Your Diet Can Help Save Your Life and the World."
Because milking a cow is so fucking inhumane.
His efforts have gained praise from animal rights groups.
^Not a good thing.
"I can't really see working there as long as those milk posters are up and they keep feeding poison to the kids," said Warwak
Is crack an animal product?
Dave Warwak, 44, also said he plans to ask the McHenry County state's attorney to file child-endangerment charges against the school district because the school continues to promote milk and other animal products as part of a healthy diet.

He's a fucking art teacher, I'm sure he'll be sorely missed.
Also, how do I post in pretty colors? :)

See the little A with a black bar underneath it and a tiny arrow to the right of it? Highlight your text, click that, select a color, done.
WTF is an art teacher talking to kids about animal cruelty for anyway? I can't find a way to fit it into the curriculum. I hope all of his art supplies are environmentally sound like recycled paper and pencil products or non-animal hair paint brushes.

Something tells me that his art supplies probably are all vegan...
I think his problem is that he doesn't understand how you can't change from without, you have to change from within :cue the more you know music:

Free content on the internet re-posted somewhere else doesn't break copyright laws if you attribute it to the original source.
The question here is what "free" is. Since I have to pay for the NY Times as a paper, but could get it completely free on the internet, is it free internet material?
I'm not sure this has even been litigated. Who knows. IP Law is pretty brand spanking new and is something I couldn't be bothered with.

I want to say I have read an article about this actually occuring, I'm not going to bother looking it up, but I want to say it has to do with the fact that you "pay" by looking at the ads on the source site. Since we're copying the content without the ads (or even the value of "foot traffic") that we're stealing it.
Can't say where I got that, but it's in my head for some reason  don't think I just made it up, but it's possible, my head comes up with some weird stuff sometimes.
