View Full Version : Who watched the MVA awards?

Someone elaborate on the MVA awards if anyone watched it?

I saw the Britany clip on the news this morning and just thought "My God, cant the girl grow up?". It was sad and laughable at the very least.

And I also just read a clip on Kayne West. Who beat him out and why is it now a racial thing? Or am I misinterpreting what he's saying in the quote below?

VMA losses spark another Kanye tantrum
Sun Sep 9, 11:48 PM ET

Sour grapes from Kanye West — again. Shut out at the Video Music Awards, Kanye West threw a tantrum Sunday night in front of media and crew backstage as the MTV show was ending.

West, waiting for an elevator in a crowded hallway, began yelling about losing all five categories for which he was nominated.

"That's two years in a row, man ... give a black man a chance," West said, stomping around his entourage and directing his comments at a reporter.

"I'm trying hard man, I have the ... number one record, man."

West said he never will return to MTV.

The rapper was nomination for five awards, including male artist of the year. This is the latest in a series of awards show outburst for West. Last year, he crashed the stage at the MTV Europe Awards after not winning for best video.

I saw the Britney clip this morning on CNNHN and it looked terrible, she looked ike she was a zombie or something going through the choreography.

She actually looks like the last thing she wants to be doing is performing.

I hate that people say she looks awful, I mean, she looks fine. I think most women would kill for a body like hers after two kids.

"Give a black man a chance" isn't racial in any way. I think he lost at least a few of those other categories to other black men. It's just a thing to say. It's how he self-identifies.

Maybe Kanye'll realize he sucks now. One can hope.

No one watches the VMAs any more, though.

Nah, it's more like when they say give a brother a chance. It's just how some speak of themselves, I don't believe he meant that he wasn't chosen because he was black.

Britney, well, she needs to just accept that her time as a popular performer has passed and move onto something else. She looked like she didn't want to even be there. Even though she looks fine for someone having had kids, she also no longer has the figure she used to have and needs to not appear half naked as though she is.

I'm not a follower of Kayne and have only seen whats been reported by him, therefore I didnt know quite where he was coming from with that.

Thanks for the clarification.

Kanye he is a terribly sore loser and always has been. He makes loose lipped comments about race that I find hard to believe he actually believes himself. In any case, Brittany "hot mess" Spears is a train wreck in the making.

I watched it although the format this year almost made it unwatchable.

"MVA awards" is redundant Gan.

MVA = Music Video Awards

I didn't watch them and that's all I have to contribute.

Oh, and Kanye West sucks (most of the time).

Also Makkah just reminded me that they're called the VMA's so you're wrong completely. But don't feel bad, it's because you're old. =/

It was a lot cooler when they did. Then along came MTV2 to show all of the videos. And now it sucks just as bad.

VH1 Classic FTW.

I laughed a lot when Jennifer Garner got confused about the name of the winner she presented and called them "Gym Class Fallout."

They don't really, Justin Timberlake made a comment challenging them to show more videos.

I didn't watch much of it, kept flicking the station back and forth. I felt sorry for Britney, she looked so nervous, like she was terrified to move much or she'd fall flat on her face. Yes her body isn't as fit as it was pre-kids but it still looks okay in my book. (hers looks better than mine!)

Well this is the recap I got from the wife since I didn't get up every time she wanted me to see something.

Britney opened: Poor lipsync, poor choreography, looked like she didn't care to be there, routine was nothing more than her wiggling as little as possible while being groped and felt up again and again .

Sara Silverman came out after and completely trashed Ms Spears ... I listened to it later and I'm willing to bet Britney went home in tears.

A bunch of crap and nothing special.

Dr Dre

A bunch more crap and nothing special.

Pam Anderson getting heckled by Tommy Lee.

A bunch more crap and nothing special.

Tommy Lee getting a blast to face from Kid Rock ... Kid not even losing the cigar in his mouth through the whole ordeal.

Combs and Fox campaigning against white on white crime and violence in the rock industry.

Some more crap and the show comes to an end.

Some of those may be out of order but what I found interesting was what seems like a bit of instigating on MTV's part.

Kid Rock and Combs were to announce an award together, Lee was sat at the same table as Combs ... Meaning Kid Rock would have had to walk by the table anyway.

A sensible person planning out the seating wouldn't have placed Tommy Lee anywhere in proximity to Kid Rock with Pam Anderson being part of the show, nor would they have placed Lee in a position where he would have to cross paths with Kid Rock, unless you were planning for a reaction.

A bunch of crap and nothing special.

Dr Dre

A bunch more crap and nothing special.
Please simplify this to just "a bunch of crap".

Blast to face being... he punch him? What?

I'm sorry, Dre on the VMAs is actually a pretty big thing. The only person who stands taller in the rap community would be Simmons.

And yes, Kid Rock was walking by the table, Lee's mouth let some comments go ... Kid blasted Lee in the face .... security, (surprisingly .. not) were on top of them both before Lee could get out of his chair. Kid Rock never let the cigar leave his mouth. The actual blast to the face hasn't hit the internet (yet) but MTV has the footage of security pulling them apart.

... Kid blasted Lee in the face ....
It was your use of slang "blast" to mean punch, that got me, I assumed punched by context but I've generally heard it more of as an insult type of statement. Now if you said he "rocked" his face I would have got it, but then the awful pun of kid rock rocking his face would have come into play, and that's just terrible.

I dont think I could handle actually watching an entire awards show like this.. however out of morbid curiosity I did catch the clip of Britney on the internet news this morning. Like several others here, I thought she looked great physically considering she's had two kids and everything she's put herself through the last couple years. Though I think she needs to seriously change her style if she's ever going to perform again. She's been through/caused too much of a fuss to just go back to the way she was. She has a pretty voice from what I've heard in the past, she needs to quit with all the crap music and try something a bit more mature maybe. Not to mention... put some clothes on and stop trying to dance like a kid. She looked completely uncomfortable and it just invited more critizism, something she really can't afford.

well I did mention the putting clothes on part. Other than her slutty appearance, she didn't look like some fat slob like some articles were trying to imply.

Not a bad suggestion, but I think her career, for the most part, is over. She doesn't have the talent to sustain a long-term career through a lot of identity changes (ala Madonna, or Christina Augilera, who definitely has the pipes to sing whateverthefuck she wants).
