Orly. Any decent fights? Or is this just a freebie because there are a bunch of garbage matchups?

This should be the best of the year. If nothing else, it's the biggest matchup of the year.

Dan Henderson - Quentin Jackson is the biggest fight for years.
Pride 205 champ (even though usually weighs 200 pounds soaking wet and doesn't even cut) vs UFC 205 champ.
Jackson will have about 30 pounds on Hendo come fight time, but Hendo will take it.
(and the fights have already happened so I know who won them all, except the main event. I wouldn't let myself read that. If you're interested PM me)

ive only seen one henderson fight, vs cro cop a while back, and henderson looks like one tough ass mofo, im betting 500 bucks on him. liddell isnt even fighting this time, and he was ridiculous until he got paid to lose the rampage fight. ufc is taking a slow turn down the pro boxing lane in my opinion,

He fought 40 minutes ago, prompting my post by beating the other guy so badly he started grappling with the ref out of confusion.

I doubt Liddell was paid to lose. Rampage just had his number. He's proved it twice now. Its a bad style match up. I just hope they work it out so Chuck and Wanderlei Silva go at it. Its a long time coming and the matchup would be a good one..

Dan and Mirko have never fought.
Not sure who you're thinking of, but you're mistaken.
Edit - It's funny how many UFC fans think so highly of Liddell but know so little about MMA in general. Paid to take a dive? Give me a break. He's making a mil+ per fight and is the biggest MMA superstar in the US. Why the hell would they want him to lose???

Biggest star? Debatable.
I agree not a chance in hell he takes a dive for cash however.

Some fans now have only been exposed to MMA through Spike TV. They have zero knowledge of any other fighters. Liddell was the poster boy so everyone believed him to be the best. Problem with that is there are many very good fighters and any of them can win on any day. The UFC is striving for the mainstream so I expect they will do everything they can now to keep all fights legit. Thats why they just tossed Babalu. Agree with it ir not they took a stance.

I loved watching Tank fight...swing for the fences everytime... he just fought a couple of months ago and got KO'd...I actually think hes been KO'd in his last 3 or so fights... I would still pay to see him...throw a few punches, get hit a few times and crack open a Bud at ringside...

Showgun Rua making his UFC debut next PPV who I think with be a force in the 205 weight class. They recently worked out a contract with Wanderlei Silva so be expecting him end of this year early next year and anyone who knows MMA knows he is a savage (even though he was beat twice by Dan Henderson) I want to see Fedor Emelianenko in the heavy weight division who would be amazing matchup with Randy but for some stupid reason I think he signed with Bodog Fight
Cro Cop sucked last night.

Shogun is very very dynamic, but he will be severely limited by the stupid unified rules.
NV is going to be looking at the rules at the end of the year so we might see a change at some point.
Wandy is coming off two devastating KOs, so he'll need to work himself back into the mix. He was the most dominant 205lb fighter for about 6 years. Hopefully he's not out of his prime now - time will tell.
Fedor has not signed with anyone. His contract negotiations with the UFC are not finished. The UFC has offered him WAY more money than anyone in MMA has ever received, but Fedor doesn't care about money and wants to compete in combat Sambo tournaments in Russia. He is the face of Sambo in his country and it's very important to him. He also wants the UFC to sign other fighters from his Red Devil team. These two issues are the major source of contention between the UFC and Fedor. I expect a deal to be worked out regardless.
The UFC, despite claiming to want the 'best fighters in the world' doesn't seem apt to sign many foreign fighters like Gomi, Sakurai, Kawajiri, Aoki, Ribeiro, etc. They don't seem to be fond of fighters who don't speak aren't marketable to the US fans. Dana White is also a vindictive bastard and won't sign people because he personally dislikes them. Frank Shamrock and Josh Barnett are prime examples.
Just a bit of FYI for the MMA fans out there.

I would be surprised if Frank Shamrock was fighting too much longer in his last fight with Baroni he couldnt even shoot (which has always been a big part of his game) because of trouble with his knees again. although to his credit he still tapped Baroni who has always been a one dimensional fighter.
As far as Dana White he is definitly a business man with a long memory. Look how long it took him to come to terms with Tito and BJ Penn after they crossed him.

Frank's knee's aren't bad.. they were injured. He hurt them rolling with Sokoudjou; who is an absolute BEAST. He's rehabing now and he plans to fight the winner of the Hua - Lawler fight in December or there around. And Frank didn't just 'tap' Baroni... he beat the everliving crap out of him.
Baroni has traditionally trained with Hammer House, but recently has been with QUEST and AKA. He's actually very well rounded.. he just prefers to stand and throw heavy punches. Plus Baroni tested positive for steroids. heh.
As for Dana... you can't really justify him not wanting the best fighters in the world, even though he claims to. I don't care if x or y pissed him off personally, I just want to see the best fight the best.

Every fight I have seen of Baroni he just hasnt shown the ground skills that the other top fighters in his weight class have. He is good enough to avoid easy submissions but not one of those guys thats going to throw a arm bar that makes you saw WTF where did that come from.
As for Hammer House I would be willing to bet half if not more of their team is on steroids I mean look at Coleman and Randaleman. Both of which have been having alot of difficulty durring recent fights because their game was based solely around their power.
Hua - Lawler....... as in Robbie Lawler?? I didnt even realize he was still as active in MMA as he use to be back in '03 and '04.

And yes.. Hammer House is a bunch of juicers. Those guys are sickly ripped.
And yes, Lawler has been very active. He's ranked top 10 MW by most people. He just KTFO'd Frank Trigg, after Trigg beat Misaki in Pride.

Boxing's days are numbered and MMA will continue to grow. It's obvious, however, that the best fighters fight Pride not only for the higher overall purses, but because it's about the fighting in pride not the marketing so you get great fighters from all over the world. Watch Pride and you'll see that the best fighters get the recognition and the attention not the ones that management can sell to the public.
I also like the way they push the action; it makes for more exciting fights.

I hear White is trying to wait until he can get a solid market in Japan to bring Pride back, like UFC has Spike TV.
