Heh, you're not too alone, man. I like almost everything with the word "metal" in the genre title, including some nu-metal. Also Slipknot. They've got some really nice hooks and I like that their bass and drums aren't relegated to the background to keep the lead guitarist in check and on rhythm like a lot of the old shit.

The only metal I really loathe is female-fronted metal bands where the chick sings without reference to the melody or rhythm of the song. They aaaaall wanna be like Evanescence or Lacuna Coil and wail out operas over metal beats. Fuck that. Get in touch with the fucking music, goddamnit.

Know what pisses me off? The LSU station around here has a metal show every Tuesday from 9pm - 11pm. Then this new DJ took over last year and now it's some gay hardcore 70s punk show. The kind where the songs last like 40 seconds and sound like total garbage and it's 99% nothing but obscure bands nobody's ever heard of.

It makes me die a little inside every time I hear it.
