I got this in email today and did indeed give me the chills, I thought I'd share.
B.

Story:

People always say how mean kids can be, never how nice they can be.

This story will either make you cry, give you cold chills or just leave you cold, but it puts life into perspective!

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the school's students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all that attended.

After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question. "Everything God does is done with perfection. Yet, my son Shay cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do.

Where is God's plan reflected in my son?" The audience was stilled by the query. The father continued. "I believe," the father answered, "that when God brings a child like Shay into the world, an opportunity to realize the Divine Plan presents itself and it comes in the way people treat that child."

Then, he told the following story:

Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think they will let me play?" Shay's father knew that the boys would not want him on their team. But the father understood that if his son were allowed to play it would give him much-needed sense of belonging.

Shay's father approached one of the boys on the field and asked if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance from his teammates. Getting none, he took matters into his own hands and said,
"We are losing by six runs, and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him up to bat in the ninth inning." In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. At the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the outfield. Although no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base. Shay was scheduled to be the next at-bat. Would the team actually let Shay bat at this juncture and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat.

Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball. However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher moved a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least be able to make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly toward Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground to the pitcher.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could easily have thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have ended the game. Instead, the pitcher took the ball and threw it on a high arc to right field, far beyond reach of the first baseman.

Everyone started yelling, "Shay, run to first, run to first." Never in his life had Shay ever made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled. Everyone yelled, "run to second, run to second!" By the time Shay was rounding first base, the right fielder had the ball. He could have thrown the ball to the second baseman for a tag. But the right fielder understood what the pitcher's intentions had been, so he threw the ball high and far over the third baseman's head. Shay ran towards second base as the runners ahead of him deliriously circled the bases towards home.

As Shay reached second base, the opposing shortstop ran to him, turned him in the direction of third base, and shouted, "run to third!" As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams were screaming, "Shay! Run home!" Shay ran home, stepped on home plate and was cheered as the hero for hitting a
"grand slam" and winning the game for his team.

"That day," said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of the Divine Plan into this world."

Beautiful and moving story, it truly brought tears to my eyes. Sometimes others can be so thoughtful with others. It's times like that, that makes me realize the entire world isn't going to shit.

Thank you for sharing that email.

Just thought I would throw this one in. I liked it alot and have had it a while...So I thought I would share it with you since Christmas is coming up.

_________________________

On the last day before christmas, I hurried to go to the supermarket to buy the remaining of the gift I didn't manage to buy earlier. When I saw all the people there, I started to complain to myself :'It is going to take forever here and I still have so many other place to go...'

'Christmas really is getting more and more annoying every year. How I wish I could just lie down, go to sleep and only wake up after it...'

Nonetheless, I made my way to the toy section, and there I started to curse the prices, wondering if afterall kids really play with such expensive toys. While looking in the toy section, I noticed a small boy of about 5 years old, pressing a doll against his chest. He kept on touching the hair of the doll and looked so sad. I wondered who was this doll for.

Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him : 'Granny, are you sure I don't have enough money?' The old lady replied : 'You know that you don't have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.' Then she asked him to stay here for 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly.

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I started to walk toward him and I asked him who did he want to give this doll to. 'It is the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for this christmas. She was so sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her.' I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus will bring it to her, afterall, and not to worry. But he replied to me sadly. 'No, Santa Claus can not bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mother so that she can give it to her when she goes there.'

His eyes were so sad while saying this. 'My sister has gone to be with God. Daddy say that Mummy will also go to see God very soon, so I thought that she could bring the doll with her to give it to my sister' My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said : 'I told daddy to tell mummy not to go yet. I asked him to wait until I come back from the supermarket'

Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me : 'I also want mummy to take this photo with her so that she will not forget me.' 'I love my mummy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister' Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly. I quickly reached for my wallet and took a few notes and said to the boy :'What if we checked again, just in case if u have enough money?' 'Ok' he said. 'I hope that I have enough.' I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll, and even some spare money.

The little boy said : 'Thank you God for giving me enough money' Then he looked at me and added : 'I asked yesterday before I slept for God to make sure I have enough money to buy this doll so that mummy can give it to my sister. He heard me'' I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mummy, but I didn't dare to ask God too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and the white rose.' 'You know, my mummy loves white rose' A few minutes later, the old lady came again and I left with my trolley.

I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local newspaper article 2 days ago, which mentioned of a drunk man in a truck who hit a car where there was one young lady and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-assisting machine, because the young lady would not be able to get out of the coma. Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the newspaper that the young lady had passed away. I couldn't stop myself and went to buy a bunch of white roses and I went to the mortuary where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wish before burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place crying, feeling that my life had been changed forever.

The love that this little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to that day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk man had taken all this away from him.

Gail used to forward all kinds of stories and the like to me thru her e-mail lists... nice enough and all.. I like them.. but I would trade them all to not read in the paper any more about how someone famous has turned out to be a complete and reprehensable scum-bag :(

This is more about how horrible kids can be but um.. felt like sharing it somewhere.

My mom told me about this article she read... in it what they did was take this girl, thin, pretty, and they put her in a fat suit and they made her look really big then put her in a new high school as a new student. The girl reported that kids would snicker and make comments as she walked by and generally be cruel the entire day. Next day she came back as her normal, pretty self and was introduced to the kids again. Basically it was an experiment but...

I saw this thing on Shallow Hal. Gwenyth (sp?) couldn't make it to where they were to test out the outfit so the crew came to the hotel she was staying out and in her room put it on her. She then, in full costume, walked down to the lobby and around the bar. She said no one would look at her. The bartender tried to pretend she wasn't even there. She said it was like they thought the polite thing to do was to pretend she wasn't there but all she felt was isolated.

Not really sure what the point of sharing those were... guess it's don't judge people by their size? Did I just ramble?

That is relatively interesting though. It is so strange how peoples minds work. You know I may be a funny person in that aspect. I find myself not caring how people look at all anymore. I find myself acknowledging people who acknowledge me. I have been lately trying to remember a person's name. Personally I have found in my searching for the truthfulness and meaning of life/my life/the world found that one of the most important things anyone can do is simply to remember someone elses name.

I did a little bit of research on a baseball player whom I remember reading and article on a while back named Mike Sweeney. He plays outfield for the KC Royals. Deeper into my searching, I found some interesting inteviews on him. A Peanut Vendor said Mike would come up to him before every game and say hello (using the peanut Vendors first name) and give him some sort of wise crack about either baseball players or peanuts. There were a few more interviews from season ticket holders who sit in the outfield by where he plays and he goes out there early before the game and greets all of the season tickets holders by names. They said that he will also ask questions that range from work, family, and even their pet goldfish.

I wish I could find more info about him. Cause I think by him training himself to be a outgoing person and remember a persons name has gotten him very far in life.

Just to comment a tad more on that poor girls situation...Looks never truely will accomplish anything in this world. Only our minds further ourselves and the world around.

That is a very touching story. I was a paramedic and it reminds me of a few occasions of dealing with children when a parent or grandparent was either passing away or had already died. Never did I see a child be that considerate. Maybe there is hope.

Great stories. I really don't read over everything anymore and normally skip most of the off-topic stuff since it turns out to be retarded. I thought this was some story about moving to another house so I almost didn't read it. I'm glad I read it anyway, truely touching.

When I search my archive of touching stories for which I helped me along my path, I will post them as I go. I'll be obvious on my topic so that everyone can truely enjoy them. And maybe if all you folks are lucky enough I will post a couple stories I have personally wrote.
