I got a new SATA 300 (Western Digi) 250g hard drive..

I plug in the connectors etc, etc, but when I startup the computer, it doesnt even register that I have it hooked up. it's pretty strange. I know that since it's not formatted or anything, I have to do that; but I cant figure out how to format it, if I cant get the computer to know it exsists.

Any information?

I even used the connectors that my current HD uses, to make sure it should work, and it didnt register either.

Check U2U.. sorry replied to your U2U before I saw this thread.

Start
Control Panel
Administrative tools
Computer Management

Expand the Storage option and select Disk Management

In the bottom panel you should see your hard drive, right click it and select... umm (not on a machine with a new hard drive so I can't say exactly... it's like "add new partition" or "format" one of the two)

From that point it should be self explanitory, feel free to ask if that doesn't do it.
