WILLS POINT, Texas (AP) -- Entomologists are debating the origin and rarity of a sprawling spider web that blankets several trees, shrubs and the ground along a 200-yard stretch of trail in a North Texas park.

...

"At first, it was so white it looked like fairyland," said Donna Garde, superintendent of the park about 45 miles east of Dallas. "Now it's filled with so many mosquitoes that it's turned a little brown. There are times you can literally hear the screech of millions of mosquitoes caught in those webs."

I guess everything IS bigger in Texas. And...wtf...the entomologists don't KNOW what spiders built the thing?

Jesus, well, my vote is on alien spiders.

Maybe there's a particular breed of spider that has socially evolved to the point where they work as a community, much like ants and bees.

If not, well that has to be a spider hooked on meth, or fucking huge.

Send them/it north because I'm sick of mosquito bites.

See just knowing that exists somewhere on earth, even if it's the other side of the planet, I still can't deal with it.

One night... in the not-so-distant future... it'll be on your bed, tip-toe-ing towards your face.

Only after rendering you immobile with that massive web.

Doesn't scare me as much as the fact I know I statisicly swallowed them in my sleep at least once in my life.

These are likely to go Alien on your ass.

One day your chest (or ass) will asplode releasing thousands of spiders ... won't make much of a difference at that point, because you'll be dead with a big hole in your chest ... or bigger hole in your ass.

That's crazy awesome.

What's crazy awesome is that your AIM is off.
I can't remember if it was you or Artha who's the freak on spiders. I wanted you to tell me it's going to be alright and I don't need to sleep in a sealed sleeping bag thanks to Tsa'ah scaring this shiz out of me.

Personally I find the idea of a bug that thinks offensive.

My bad. On enough anti-histamines to be immune to all forms of spider venom, as well as higher cognitive function :embarrassed:

Anyhoo, ftw: http://www.ifilm.com/video/2800217/channel/viralvideo

Spiders are awesome. I have a no-kill rule in my house. They get jarred up and let outside.

Anything that's eats bugs is okay with me. Spiders, lizards, etc but I still don't want them in my home.

Roaches and moths are the things that scare me most.

I do the same even though I'm scared to piss of them.
But when they're too big to fit in the glass they get fucking destroyed any way I can, meaning anything that's longest to crush them with.

Hey, I can't explain it. They flutter around and you never know where they are gonna land except that it will most likely be on you. Something about them freaks me out, im weird.

Also, nobody ever believes my story of the fucking footlong moth that rested outside my GF's apartment door for 2 days. She asked me to kill it.....yeah, we ended up sleeping at my house until it flew away. The thing was fucking huge! The kind of big where if it flew on you, you would just bite your tongue off and jump off the three flights of stairs to your death b/c even death is better then having a giant moth on you.

Moths irk me because something you'll just be miding your own business and they'll fly into you out of no where. Then after the initial WTF was that you're obligted to kill it.

If I came outside and my property had webs like that on it I'd:

A. Call my realtor.
B. Start packing.

I once batted a lunar moth out of the air with a stick... at the time we had no idea what it was... except there was this huge thing harassing our tent... so I took it down! Felt kinda bad afterwards... I don't feel bad at all killing regular moths, but I smashed this thing out of the sky and seeing it crippled on the ground was kinda heartbreaking... poor little guy. But yeah, lunar moths are huge and creepy, they're impervious to our strongest magnetic fields, but in the end, they succumb to pointy sticks.

It would be funny if someone went out there one night with an assload of Raid and took care of the infestation
