Can someone tell me what the formula is to determine roundtime for 2 handers?
After being away for a many, many years I've come back and started a 2H Paladin, Giant. It is my understanding that 2 handers can now be swung with a 5sec RT with proper dex and agi (minus any enc and armor penalities of course). Is there a speadsheet or can someone share what lvl I could swing any 2H with a RT of 5?

You pretty much have it nailed, though. Keep your encumbrance down as a giant and you should be good to go. My warrior swings at 5, but granted, is a half-sylvan with appropriate bonuses.

Well right now I'm at 7 with a greatsword and 6 with a flam. At lvl 5 as a giant Paladin. I'd like to know when that will go to 5 with all weapons and then adjust my stats if necessary during my free period.

I don't have a copy of excel with me atm.

And what armor do you have him in? How many ranks of armor skill?

Roundtime reduction for all melee weapons works the same: -1 second for each 15 combined bonus of Agility and Dexterity, rounded up. Thus 8 bonus is -1 second, 22 bonus is -1 second, 23 bonus is -2 seconds, and so on.

Giantkin have a maximum combined bonus of 40, or 3 seconds. They obtain this reduction at 38 combined bonus, or a sum of 196 stat. This occurs for your character at level 72 and is required to swing a base 8 weapon (e.g. a claidhmore) in 5 seconds.

As an added note, the Lost Ranger's utility does automatic stat growth at an arbitrary level. It's on Tsoran's site.

Here's the deal. There are threshholds for RT reduction based on AGI and DEX *Bonuses*. For 1 RT reduction, the bonuses need to add up to 8. For 2 seconds RT reduction, you need a total of 23 between dex/agi. Since a greatsword is an 8 second base RT you need a total of 38 between AGI and DEX bonuses, which means both those STATS need to be near 100 (giants max out at 40 combined AGI/DEX bonus). Also, as a giant you'll never be able to swing a lance or awl-pike in 6 seconds without some sort of haste. At any rate, you're going to wait a long while before you get your RT down to 5 with a greatsword unless you fix your stats.

Also, if the table doesn't space correctly, which I'm afraid it won't, the first column of numbers is the RT reduction attained, and the second column is the combined AGI/DEX bonus required to attain the corresponding reduction.

So whats this 8, 23 stuff? I thought it was 15 bonus per second reduced.

It's math. 8 rounded up is 15. Think about it. 8 bonus provides a 0.533... second reduction. .533... is rounded up to 1.

Gotcha. So someone coded it poorly and the rounding enables things that probably shouldn't be possible.

By Tsoran's spreadsheet, with those stats and skills, you should be swinging a greatsword at 7 seconds in up to leather breastplate with 69 or less pounds of encumbrance, and you will hit 5 seconds at level 85.

Sorry, with a giantman, you exchange speed for power. You should be able to hit like a freight train, though.

If you set up your starting stats like so, you will hit 5 seconds by level 30:

STR 60
CON 60
DEX 99
AGL 90
DIS 60
AUR 70
LOG 51
INT 50
WIS 80
INF 40


That's the best you're going to do.

Those aren't his level 0 stats, though, so my mark (level 72) for 5 second swing is the right one. I would certainly encourage changing the stats regardless, obviously.

If he does stick with gmen, your suggested stat plan is fine. I was just pointing out why we got different answers for "when greatsword = 5".

It's my understanding that in the 2h world, mattock/maul are preferred over greatsword against chain and plate, which is where I'd prefer to hunt. If so, if I've understood the RT calcs correctly, he should be at 5seconds with a mattock at lvl 24, which I think is acceptable.

Do you concur? If so, I can live with 6sec on gswords until 74.

I've got you there at level 21, and I would definitely recommend a mattock/maul over a greatsword. Sorry I mixed you and Martaigne up in my last post (to Martaigne too, obviously). :S

I calculated his stats for level 0 using the spreadsheet, allowing for growth to the stats he posted.


100 dex/100 agl at 0 would be optimal.

Can only have one stat above 90 before profession bonuses, which is why I posted what I did. It's the highest he can get.

I'm not expert on the two handed blunt weapons, though, so I can't answer on that regard, sorry.

How did your DEX go up and your STR go down? Or is the second shot post-reallocated?

Yes- post allocation after playing with the spreadsheet a little. I'm still within the 30 days so have a couple more choices left.
