How about we just mix super heros and super villains..

I'm partial to Red Skull, Juggernaut (My favorite.), Gambit, Rhino, Kingpin, Doctor Doom.

I never have been big into comics, but that's my small list.

Is there anyone who keeps up in comics that could recommend a good series going on right now? I started to get into the new Aquaman, but dropped it quickly.

Not sure about going on now but I'd check out the following:
Sandman (Neil Gaiman)
Watchmen (Alan Moore)
Dark Knight Returns (Frank Miller)
Sin City (Frank Miller)
Batman: No mans land arc

I voted for Spiderman but only on the condition that its intended to mean Ultimate Spiderman not that whiney, mono-toned bastard they put in the movie.

The Ultimate line from Marvel comics is REALLY good. Ultimate Spiderman and X-men especially.

My personal favorites include Poison Elves from Sirius and Bone from Image.

Other good comic lines that were started recently were by Cross Gen with Sigil, Scion, Mystic, The Negation, etc. Well written stories with good art, and the damn things came on time every month.

I stopped collecting comics about half a year ago because of the cost. Each comic at about 3 bucks was adding up to be worse than smoking a pack a day.

I voted for Psylocke, she was pretty kick-ass at times, although towards the end of her appearances (she died) she was getting lame. Ultimate X-Men Psylocke is pretty cool (when they show her). I'd say R.I.P. but you know they always come back.

Snapp: that is why i don't "like" marvel and dc comics...

There's SOOOOOOOO few deaths.
In like 30 years of heavily load of comics, there's like only 10 deaths, even for those "normal" heros.

X-men, the most known (or so) has only 4 deaths:

psylocke as you sad, colossus (lame death), thunderbird and changeling (who is that man)

Sorry X, if your going to post about his powers, don't leave it out..the rest is as thus..

Known superhuman powers: Gambit has the mutant ability to tap into the potential energy contained within an object and transform it into kinetic energy. When Gambit thus charges an object with kinetic energy and throws it at a target, the object releases this energy explosively on impact.

You just completely left out that part, because you wanted to. At least be complete.

Yes, I liked Wolverine, but I also feel he is too "overplayed" by fans. If you mention comic books, wolverine is always the first main hero brought up. I personally have always liked the not so well known ones. Darkness (to counter Witchblade), Gambit (to counter wolverine), And that guy who took batman's place for a while (starts with an A..Azeral? Something like that).

Azrael took the place of Batman for a bit. It's easy to remember how to spell angelic names if you know this: 99% of the time they end in "el" for the "Lord" part of their name (it's short for elohim, but I digress).

Batman is the ultimate hero. Colossus' death was not lame. And the Crisis of Infinite Earths killed off a hell of a lot more than 10 people. Learn your facts for chrissake X.

Supergirl, Flash, Green Arrow, Robin are the most known ones, I'd wager.

There are then the following heros (who honestly I only have a dim to vacant knowledge of): Ultraman, Owlman, Superwoman, Johnny Quick II, Power Ring, Nighthawk, Kid Psycho, Lord Volt, Aquagirl, Mirror Master, Maaldor the Darklord, Dove, Huntress.

More than 10, but the others are less known.

His sister died from that virus. That's part one of the background.

Part two: Legacy virus is the AIDS of the mutant world. Colossus knowingly gave his life so that no one would have to die from Legacy ever again.

Yeah, Psylocke's died like 3 times already, right? so I figure you could be right about them Marvel fellows.

I don't think Nighthawk died, his comic wasn't selling well but they got to finish off his series with his amulet shattering or something but I'm pretty sure he lived.

<< There's SOOOOOOOO few deaths. >>

That's true, it's like a gunfight on The A-Team. :D

Superman would never die (or get married) unless it was an 'imaginary' episode. Hell, Superman even raised Lex Luthor from the dead.

That being said, Superman was my first favorite. I was getting 25 cents a week allowance which I spent on two comics and a candy bar.

I read everthing that was not a romance comic - Metal Men, The Flash, Dial H for Hero - whatever was on the stand, including The Rawhide Kid, Two-Gun Kid, and Kid Colt Outlaw.

Later I favored the more human characters - Batman, Green Arrow, and my all time favorite: Magnus, Robot Fighter.

I wish I still had my collection, but they went up in smoke. While I was in the USAF, my mom's house burned down. She was lucky to escape with her life, she lost one of her dogs.

I know dogs are important (almost as human) in the us, so eh, sorry?

That being said, I really would like a "parallele world" serie comic book.

Death really put more realist and intrigue. Wolverine, the bad ass, had like 50 occasions to kill his ARCH-ennemy sabertooth, but bah.. BOOOOOOH

Xcalibur
11-30-2003, 08:05 PM
The X-Men finally captured Sabretooth, and their leader, Professor Charles Xavier, undertook trying to help Sabretooth overcome his psychotic impulses, just as the X-Men had aided Wolverine in controlling his own tendency towards berserker rage. Infuriated at discovering Sabretooth at Xavier's mansion, Wolverine battled Sabretooth and seemingly injured Sabretooth's brain with a thrust of one of his claws. Afterwards, Sabretooth seemed unusually passive and peaceful, and Boomer, one of the members of X-Force, developed a fondness for him However, Sabretooth recovered his true personality while pretending to remain docile, and finally turned against Boomer and the X-Men, mortally wounding Psylocke

Don't know, didn't saw it at all.

And since he regenerates (sabertooth) it seems pointless to maim/hurt him when he will be top shape the next day.

here's x-force

-Force was created from the team known as the New Mutants by the mutant known as Cable. After most of the New Mutants went their separate ways, Cable reorganized the team, which consisted of the mutants Cannonball, Boom-Boom (later renamed as Meltdown), Warpath (now known as Proudstar), Shatterstar, Feral, and "Domino." (Note: It was later revealed that "Domino" was actually a shapeshifter named Copycat. The real Domino joined the group after she was rescued).

Among the superhuman mutants whom X-Factor has aided so far are "Boom Boom," a mutant who can generate explosive energy "bombs," Rusty Collins, who is a pyrokinetic, able to create flame without himself being harmed, Arthur "Artie" Maddicks, a small boy with psionic powers, most notably the ability to create images of distant events, and Skids, a Morlock who surrounds herself with a force field.

The one thing i do know about the Green Lantern is the fact that the artists never used the same umm... power creation twice it was a kinda rule if ya were gonna be the artist for him . Nope Dighn, unless you read the comics. Just Vampire Hunter D, then Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. The sequeling is F-ing amazing as well.

You should have supplied the option of Blunt Man and Chronic from the Jay and Silent Bob movie.

That freaking mouth on the hand thing creeped me out for like a week. Damn that was weird.

Batman could beat every one of those other heroes in a fight, so Batman should win. Wolverine is Canadian (more or less), so he shouldn't.

Fantastic Four stopped being popular when that fucking talentless hack Byrn's run ended, thus ending a long and gratuitous series of stories involving Susan Storm running around naked being chased by some homicidal villian. Every week I went in to pick up the new X-Men, and therre waiting were all the pasty faced dorks looking for their monthly 'fap-fap' fix.

JB couldn't write his way out of a soggy paper bag.

As for the Crow.. um.. 4 movies?? how many of them didnt SUCK? If your answer was "Only the first..." then thats probably why its not such a big draw any more. The original comic was a sleeper that some of us greatly enjoyed (much like The Elementals or Love & Rockets), but lost steam after the industry latched onto it desperately in an attempt to generate a wider range of interest. :(

There were dozens more, but I still think my favorite Super Hero was "The Griffin".. that 'Maxi-Graphic' rocked!

Fantastic Four isn't popular? The Crow didn't spawn four movies? Must be going crazy.

So you are saying there aren't four crow movies? And you are looking at them from objective eyes, namely your own. I've encountered people who thought Hudson Hawk was the best thing since sliced bread, so I reckon there's a good few fans out there who love both the FF and the Crow. Your little "argument" proves nothing.

Heh.. I don't have to prove anything... it's a fact.. Crow 2-4 sucked donkeyballs.. so did the TV series.. and as for Hudson Hawk.. My best friend absolutly loved that movie.. and he totally admits it sucked.. but he loves it anyways..

Perhaps your just feeling guilty because you have poor taste in films and simply can't wait till Crow 5 comes out ... :D,

Mate, I've probably seen more crap films than you have seen films altogether. It has nothing to do with my opinion. I haven't even seen Crow 3 and 4. I never even read FF. The fact is you didn't even make a point. You posted an opinion.

Well put Stray, merely an opinion not a point. No reasons or evidence to prove any kind of point... just an opinion

Stray... you have GOT to be kidding me... don't get me wrong, I like you, and you've shown alot of intelligent (though misguided) thought in your posts most times.

But THAT has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen you post.. seriously... you talk about facts and then say something like that?

One film a day for the past three years on average. Even if its not, thats not the point. The point is, you made no point. My point was this point. You made an opinion. Not a point. Get my point?

Just the one on the top of your head... :D

I see 10+ films a week, have for over 20 years... my point being, I think I have a deeper understanding and experience in Cinema, putting me in a bit better position to describe a film as 'a donkey ball sucker' or not.

And im NOT above loving truely bad films.. ever see 'Night Patrol' or 'The Pirate Movie'? I have.. they both were IRREDEMABLY awful, and I love them with all my heart.

Heh... greatest day of my life.. I came home from a weekend of flight ops, to find Shannon hunkered down on the couch watching my copy of 'The Pirate Movie' which she had spent the better part of the first month of our relationship making fun of me for owning a copy..AND telling all her friends... :D

Needless to say... the rest of the evening was interresting
