I know a few people were asking about HDs semi-recently. This is a great deal, with no rebates & free shipping. Enjoy (via slickdeals.net)

Meh so/so. Great price for the average tard who needs a cheap storage drive.
WD and Maxtor are pretty crappy for anything serious.

Which is exactly what has been request a few times recently... hence the post.
And it's pretty solid if you grab a few and RAID-5 them... 1.2TB of redundant storage for $280 is a pretty sweet deal.

I wasn't busting balls I was just saying.
Need some serious cooling if you want to run a decent raid with those.

Huh. I've used both WD and Maxtor for years and years and never had a problem with any drive I've ever had.

I've had many many problems with them in both the workplace and home.

Never had a problem with either... but yeah they're not exactly the most reliable of brands.
Serious cooling? Any decent case with a reasonable (non-"serious"... 2 case fans) number of fans would be able to support three or four of those without issue.

At the expense of the drives.
