View Full Version : Seymoor - The Mana Pouch

Here's possibly the best item ever created for wagglers..

a tough leather pouch studded with zephyr hound teeth and tied with a silver chain

The Mana Pouch
- Converts magic items directly into mana
- When closed it will "eat" any items that contain mana and absorb that mana into itself
- Wands, scrolls, ranger rods, statues.. etc
- Anything in the pouch will be COMPLETELY destroyed when absorbed
- The amount of mana absorbed by each item is equal to the mana contained within
- You can then rub the pouch and get all the mana currently stored inside
- However it can only give you back up to 2x your current max mana
Mana Points: 402 Remaining: 804
- The amount of mana recovered is dependent on your SKILLS (66% with 101 ranks of MIU -- 100% with 202 ranks of MIU)
- Any extra mana left over in the pouch is wasted.. meaning once it's rubbed it is then empty and must be refilled
- Unlocked and charged scrolls are particularly amazing for mana
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Example 1 - Ranger rod - User 202 ranks of MIU

You manage to successfully place 43 charges of the Spirit Barrier when it begins to overheat, so you stop.

You put a sturdy rod in your leather pouch.

CLOSE pouch (Eats everything within absorbing the mana)

You tug the chains on the leather pouch until it shuts.

The leather pouch begins to rumble and growl ferociously as it hops and squirms about! Something seems to be thrashing around inside!

It suddenly becomes still again....A bit of dingy steam escapes from the pouch's opening.

Mana Points: 402 Remaining: 302

RUB my pouch (Transfer ALL absorbed mana to you)
You rub the leather pouch. A painful shock runs up your arm, but after the pain ebbs, you realize your magical reserves have increased!

Mana Points: 402 Remaining: 388

Mana absorbed = 86 = 100%
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Example 2 - Ranger rod - User 101 ranks of MIU

You manage to successfully place 43 charges of the Spirit Barrier when it begins to overheat, so you stop.

Mana Points: 246 Remaining: 100

RUB my pouch (Transfer ALL absorbed mana to you)
You rub the leather pouch. A painful shock runs up your arm, but after the pain ebbs, you realize your magical reserves have increased!

Mana Points: 246 Remaining: 157

Mana absorbed = 57 = 66% of 86
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Example 3 - Bravery unlocked/charged scroll - User 202 ranks of MIU

On the pure white paper you see
(211) Bravery
(301) Prayer of Holding
(209) Untrammel
(305) Preservation

Mana Points: 402 Remaining: 200

RUB my pouch (Transfer ALL absorbed mana to you)
You rub the leather pouch. A painful shock runs up your arm, but after the pain ebbs, you realize your magical reserves have increased!

Mana Points: 402 Remaining: 596

Mana absorbed = 396
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am looking for mostly rare or unique trades as I have no need for more silvers. However I will take silvers if needed to make up the difference in value of trade items.

Anyone interested can contact me at bubbauno@aol.com or at bubbauno on AIM.

Thanks,
Tsin

When did that item come out? That's the first item I've seen in years that's actually somewhat interesting.

Was originally Tedra's from over 10 years ago..

Way cool item.

This reminds me of the tales I've heard of GM created items that used to float around the game 15+ years ago. Things that have insane magical attributes.

Things that would truly be a treasure to exist, have, find in a fantasy game that was not hellbent on being too 'realistic'. (oxymoron alert)

A treasure to exist, or perhaps just recently created and sold by an unscrupulous staffers friend?

Seymoor is at least 15 years old, been owned and used by all the old enchanters thru the years. It used to give mages under the old system the ability to do 10x enchants from 0x in like 3 days in a good workshop.

It's been nerfed multiple times too. It used to basically just give mana based off how much mana the item had, no restrictions. Probably the ultimate item was when the thought net was still spell 118, crystal amulets being common would give tons of mana.

Even in this state, it is an amazing item. For those that never wished to be out of mana, this thing could keep you in the field indefinitely.

Yeah I wasn't really ragging on it, just for that reason it's probably unlikely to be nerfed again.

Not having smoked myself retarded I can remember a lot of insignificant details from 10 years ago that I didn't actively attempt to remember.

I hope for your sake you drop the ganj before you end up like Stanley.

Tedra had an incredible amount of amazing items, including her cottage that had its own workshop.
Just FYI - Tedra = Johanna Lindsey, famous author

How exactly do you know this?

It was common knowledge, back when she played

Hah, I was gonna say Famous? Never heard of her!

But I looked her up, and she writes romance novels for the most part. No wonder I haven't heard of her.

But I second Methais question, how do you know, and why bring it up now?

A) Why not bring it up it's interesting.
B) Who gives a fuck.

I just mentioned it because things have changed so much since people like Tedra were around, and you could have cool things back then. Having a private cottage with your own workshop isn't something everyone has, the mana pouch isn't either. Her claid .. awesome.
Her being an author, I just threw it in because it's interesting to me.
Famous in terms of books written, and sold, many times over. Of course, the fact that they are fantasy/romance novels would exclude lots of people from knowing her as an author but it doesn't change the fact that she is popular in her genre.

Someone (can't remember who now) used to tell me all the time that Chris Cornell played GS.

I never really believed it, but you never know.

How would one even find out what this item does? Did a bard tell you or did you have to do research or something?

Fallen

It is fairly legendary, but the lack of any bard sung information is odd.

Finding out about celebs playing online video games is great... Curt Shilling played EQ. That porn chick from Kate's Playground plays WoW... there is some great griefing of her who a whole story that's hilarious. She's got a hoof in real life (read: only two toes on @ least one foot), so someone made a tauren and chased her around yelling "What the hoof!"

... hmm, deeeerailing.

not only does schilling play eq, but he just started his own game studio a couple years ago.

too bad he's a dirty red sock.

Out of curiosity since it got brought up, what were the stats on Tedra's claid if anyone knows?

Eric Bloom with Blue Oyster Cult also played Gemstone III. He still may to this day.

I've also heard rumors that Stephen Brust (fantasy author) plays Gemstone IV once in a blue moon.

Donquix

Which shows why gemstone is so popular...

it, in fact, has an adequate amount of cowbell.

Popular in one's genre and famous are two different things.

Sure you could go to any number of hens in a church's knitting club and drop her name and everyone goes aflutter. Get on the L in Chicago, ask about her to everyone you see in passing and you get "Who?".

Famous indicates that the greater number of people have heard of the person, maybe know what they do ... or what they have written.

The fame bar would be set unreasonably high if it did not include somebody that has had multiple NYT #1 bestsellers and has sold over 50 million books, don't ya think? The list of people that qualify for that list has to be in the single digits, right?

oh, and I should have Seymoor as Tedra was a giant lady wizard and so is my character.

She had several claids with the highest ET at 7x, unless my memory's getting poorer. It could have, and probably was, further weighted. DeadElf or Ardwen could probably tell you exactly what she had. I really never saw or interacted with Tedra that much. Now, Shattyn and his hobbit claid, on the other hand, always amused me to no end.

A lot of that generation of GS players had interesting toys (Better boxes/auctions/merchants) that we don't seem to come close to in this age of mainly useless item releases.

It wasnt so much that there were better everything as there were alot loss people to divide the items amongst. a thousand amazing items divide over a hundred people makes everyone seem like they own amazing stuff. Over 20000 people or whatver, notsomuch.

But yeah some of the old items are unreal seeming today. But in reverse some common items today were unreal then, pocketed cloaks, off the shelf zested stuff, hell toy dragons used to sell for a million or more that is plain no zests dragons.

True enough. There are more things that we have now, and take for granted, then back then.

I say this all the time. Pocketed cloaks used to be expensive as hell.

I remember that. I think it was....the second juggernaut? sold those oilskin cloaks or something off the shelf for like 12k and people freaked.

and I had a toy dragon, which unfortunately did not get sold before they went from 1 million to 5k in value. d'oh
