Every time I subdue a critter it looks like it costs me 14 stamina, though two times recently I've used subdue while I've had exactly 14 stamina and it will consume 15, causing my muscles to pop. I monitor my stamina pretty closely and have been on a subdue grind so I'm sure I've never seen it cost 15 stamina (at least not for the past 10 ranks). Anyone happen to know why it cost 16 this time or why it would ever cost more?

You hear a loud *POP* come from your muscles!
[Roll result: 109 (open d100: 67) Penalties: 15]
You spring from hiding and deliver a blow to a lesser ice giant's head!
The ice giant is dazed!

** Your gornar stiletto releases a blast of vibrating energy! **

... 10 points of damage!
Blow grazes right arm lightly.

Your muscles feel rather stiff at the moment.

Did you just recently gain a rank in subdue? The cost goes up as you gain ranks in the guild or cman.

I never understood that.

The better you get in the skill, the more difficult it is for you to do it.

But yeah, it starts out costing a little, and by the time you master, I believe it costs 30 stamina to smack something out.

P.S. Buy a blackjack for subdue reps. It's like an extra 10-15 points.

15 - (-1) = 16

Stamina Cost:Base 20 (-6 Rank 1, -4 Rank 2, -2 Rank 3)

At rank 1, it cost you 14 stamina. You're now at rank 2, and it costs 16.

It's a balance issue. If you master something, it's because you're a higher level, inherently. You therefore have more stamina. Otherwise, the benefit of CMAN would show exponential growth relative to level.

Yeah, I just hit 20 ranks, I've been watching it now and it looks like the cost is straight 16. Thanks.
