Ranged Paladin

I was thinking of transitioning to a Ranged Paladin. Don't have my stats on hand (at work) but he is a 37 Giant Paladin. I do know his Strength is 100 and his Wisdom is 100. I do have fixskills, but don't want to have to wait another year for the next one to come up. If anyone out there has tried it, or someone has a reason this would totally suck/pwn, let me know. Some other tidbits off the top of my head, running with Sym of courage, zealot and surge, his AS is 357, normally 297 with just spells. Any input welcome.

Surge would no longer add to your AS. You'd have to really tank perception along with ranged too.
Apart from those small probs I can't see why it wouldn't work since you can wear plate to make up for the lack of shield. Still.. a paladin should be crushing heads IMHO.

You would lose the benefit of Zealot since it only applies to melee combat, and I am not sure how the cman ranks from Patron's Blessing would work with ranged combat. Interesting to see how a bow bonded with Sanctify worked though. It seems it might be a training point intensive path too, keeping up ranged combat, dodging, perception, and ambush probably.

I was thinking about the TP issues. I have not done any math, but I am not sure it is viable. I don't think we can sanctify with a bow, either. I could try it without converting over just to see if it is possible.

From what i've heard, I believe just as with weapon bonding, you would have to bond to the arrow/bolt to get the effects of the ability/spell. That isn't really feasible.

Guess it is not that great an idea then. Maybe create a little one and see how I like it before I do anything drastic.
