SEND[Host Innai] Hello. Your use of "+17 and +22" is a reference to an OOC game mechanic, and is therefore OOC. Please use the enchant, and feel free to discuss the mechanical bonus in private thoughts or whispers. Thank you!
When did they become such amulet nazis? People have been using the actual bonus for years. I know it wasn't just me cause atleast 10 other peoples auctions all the sudden switched to the enchant instead of the bonus.

Not everyone has a shop, nor know about playershops.com. You can still make a good amount on the amulet too.

Over a year ago when I finally quit IG sales and shit the AMULET was completely dead. In the mid 90's it was poppin'... like a stock ticker.

My guess is they mean three and a half times enchanted...
Yeah, good for them, I appreciate it.

I got busted for that too. Didn't even think about scripted being OOC at the time. I just think it's silly that I can say Zested, when we all know that it means the same thing.
Little pet peeve tangent of mine:
I get a kick out of people who modify the phrase "God Damn". I mean seriously, the whole "taking the Lord's name in vein" thing isn't about the words that you say, it's about the intentions that you have when you say them. So if you are one of the people that edit "God Damn" to "Dad Gum" or any other modified but clearly still God Damn with other words, perhaps you should reconsider and just not say anything of the sort at all if you believe that taking the Lord's name in vein is a problem.
Try FUCK. It's at least as expressive and not a problem!
Yea I got hit for the scripted thing also. But to me that made a lot less sense than +17 or +22 to 3.5x or 4.5x. Scripted to zested? I thought that was just stupid.

I always laughed at the ones who would say "Jebus" and "Jeezus".
Who was it that used to make that joke..."Jebus? Who is Jebus? Jebus Christ, the son of Gosh?"
I say that from now on instead of saying "GOD DAMN!", people say "GOATSE TUBGIRL!"

I got busted for it when I was selling my self ammo bow on the amunet.
And that was right as I logged in during the invasion, Queerthose wound up bugging me asking if i was selling of all things during an invasion, I said yes, and still am. Perhaps someone can use the thing to hold the invaders off etc etc. He said silence yourself, I said no.. So he pulled out a scroll and cast silence on me.
He is a dipshit.

I noticed people thinking shit like '+15 to your Wisdom, +5 to your Trading skill' yesterday and thinking that the GM's should do something about it. I just hope they keep it up.
So how would you say something gave you +15 to your wisdom?

That is what the OOC whispers and private thoughts are for.
1.) It imparts 15 years of wisdom. ( Whisper ooc XXX +15 to wisdom )
2.) You will become wise beyond your years. ( Whisper ooc XXX +15 to wisdom )
3.) It allows you to have the wisdom as if you're 15 years older than you are now. ( Whisper ooc XXX +15 to wisdom )
4.) You will possess wisdom of 15 generations. 1 for each of the 15 men and women who was once it's master. ( Whisper ooc XXX +15 to wisdom )
5.) Wear it.. and see how it affects your wisdom.
There are many ways to say it without being completely out of character.
I'm also glad that GH/GM is making a difference. I hope they get more volunteers like that.

All of those sound retarded, IC or not.
I'd rather just say "15+ to wisdom" and not look like a tard.
I'd just tell them to send a thought for information.
With enchants, I'd just say "Four times enchanted", over 4x. But whatever.
That is what the OOC whispers and private thoughts are for.
Kinda hurts your sales pitch doesn't it?

No, it doesn't. I would rather buy an item from someone who looks at the game the same way I do rather than a business.
If you must use a roleplaying game for business... Do so without disrupting or being out of character but instead, respect others who are in it for the true aspect of the game by doing your business dealings in private thoughts or whispers.
I'm not saying I don't tolerate people who speak out of character but I certainly would lose respect towards that person and would avoid dealing with them in the future.

Evidently, whether you like it or not is irrelevant. It's either you comply or be reprimanded by the staff on a regular basis and eventually be labelled a high maintenance character.

There's no way to describe "+15 to Wisdom" in a way that's both accurate and IC. Given the multiplicity of OOC merchanting channels we have these days, I'm not sure there even has to be.
The theology behind God's name in the Jewish tradition is really interesting. The story of Jacob wrestling is the clearest example I can think of. In any event, the ancient traditions place an importance on the actual name that isn't really mirrored today. I would agree that the intent is more important than the specific collection of sounds, and I think most people today would as well. This doesn't have any bearing on what the actual commandment is, though.

selling a three and one half enchanted rubber chicken that grants the wisdom it's gained over years of use, to you, when you swing it around in a big circle.
eh...not bad. I could live with a lot less of the numbers on the merchant channel, and keep it to whispers and private thoughts.

Wellll, to be brief:
Genesis 32:24-30ish.
Jacob wrestles with this dude, only the dude turns out to be an angel (or God). In some ancient traditions, knowing someone's name gave you power over them. This included gods and deities and whatnot (speaking a little loosely), so Jacob asks for the being's name. Unlike the surrounding traditions (e.g. Egypt, Babylon), the Jewish God doesn't give his name. I say it's interesting because it's another example of the way the Jewish religious tradition is fundamentally different from those around it, differences which are made doubly interesting by the fact that the surrounding cultures were much more dominant.

Well, if it's IC to say a 3x longsword, and 3x really means +15, then why not just say I have a 3x wisdom enhansive?
Eh?
Latrinsorm

The trouble with that is I think the benchmark for enhancives would be the bounty system (rather than the Enchant Item spell), and that's in units of +1, isn't it?
Latrinized is the closest to latrinosis, so it's got my vote. :D

Right but, if I said I have a 3x wisdom enhancive you wouldn't assume I meant +3 right?
I think people are sufficiently ingrained with enchants that they would get the point.

As the Ponzzz mentioned, it's pretty much always been that way. Just depends if a host or GM is paying attention to the amulet and if they decide to bother saying something to you.

If they send you just report and tell them if you don't like my thought perhaps you should tell me how its done and advertise for me.... I'm merely a player and dont know whats considered in game and whats not since the rules are constantly changing.. So rather than going by trial and error and make more of a fool out of myself ..I prefer to use what I know instead of wasting time..

Been there, done that. With the right (wrong) GM/GH you can end up getting a whole lot of undesired verbal attention, cause they know that people don't EVER use terms like scripted, or the +##'s to advertise.
At times I feel that it really sucks that I know more then the GH/GM that is back there trying to tell me how to do things, fix problems, whatever.
E.G. My Fiancée had a char stuck on IFW. She reported to get moved, the GM (someone that I know for a fact has been a GM for years) that responded had her spend the next two hours searching IFW for some building that had a table that gave her an item that would transport her off the isle. - I told my Fiancée to report and say can you simply move me, and the GM responded with they can't do that. - Know what the fix was? - Another GM came in, listened to the problem, and simply moved her off the isle.
So to me, it is matter-of-factly, a problem with consistency.

If they're so concerned all of a sudden about OOC/OOG reference in an IG/IC setting, how's about doing something with all the player shops that have such references on their signs. (Not just meaning bonuses and such, but using spell numbers to describe items and things like that)
Just a thought. Probably way out in left field anyways.

Or they could look at things like existing code if being IC/IG is so important. One that I have mentioned before would be a rogue breaking his pick and muttering unprintables.
Couldn't it just as easily be something like muttering vehemently? And, how hard would it be to change that one line of text?

basically what it comes down to is the mood the GM is in, there is no real standard
For example TTM (Think To Me) has been an acceptable amunet lingo since the dawn of time and that is pretty OOC to me.
