Any ideas what is better?

+18 HCP leather breastplate, what I'm wearing now.

or

+40 Augmented chain, which I'm considering.

Thanks

Theres alot of factors to consider.

Biggest one is, do you get hit? If you are a pure and rarely get hit by melee attacks as it is, the HCP armor might actually be better for you to dampen other kinds of things that DO hit you.

But if you are a hybrid or square and you get hit by melee alot, the extra DS and the better crit divisor of the chain will give you much better immediate benefit.

I'd be interested in Evarin answering this question for you. I'm answering it as a square. I'd like his pure-tank side of things.

When I hunt I usually cast bone shatter, then ambush them with my maul untill they die.

Usually one cast, one swing.

And the only time I get hit is when a freaking griffen knocks me over. That's when I get nickled and dimed to death. All the while I'm staring at my weapon laying on the ground!

Or maybe I should get this, make a nice xmas gift to my character.

a suit of silvery vultite chainmail trimmed with strips of tooled black leather - 45,000,000 silvers
It imparts a bonus of +25 more than usual. It is padded against critical blows.

I dunno...

Oh wait, I didnt even think of FGB. Is this really the best armor for empaths?

Really, I would think that if you cast that much, you'll be more concerned with spell hinderance than possible DS/Padding. If you cast every engagement, can you fail 20-30-40% of the time and still hunt effectively?

Try some cheap armor with various hinderances and see just how much it effects you.

Which is better?

3x Somewhat crit padded Augmented leather (Which ever is the Torso-only brig-class)
Or 4x Brig?

Any brig class with heavy crit padding or better is, in my opinion, the best class of armor for empaths.

In fact, my cleric will be staying in hcp brig as well. Especially since hindrance for clerics is the same as hindrance for empaths (magical).

Heh 4x brig. But definately get fgb soon as you can. It's a slight step down in enchant but it's cheap as chips and it's full coverage, obviously.

What's FGB selling for in prime these days?

7 mil is a steal, 12 mil for a real fancy well lightened set.
