Rescuing the dead

In the past three years I've rescued hundreds and hundreds of folks inside the temple and the tower in EN.

In middle of 2006 to the present most of my rescues have been inside OTF.

So...the past couple of months while I've been in town, I have rescued folks inside the temple and tower, fogged them back, then behold! An empath comes to the room and heals them. Wow.

Not like I need the exp, but Wow...

To me, this is rude. And I'm now actually thinking of not rescuing anyone from both those place anymore.

Especially the last time, I rescued some 60+ sorceress and then some lady empath comes by and heals her right infront of me. ROFFLEMECRAZY but that's just plain rude.

If your empath or cleric is not old enough to get you out of those places. Be considerate to those who can.

heal them, then yourself enough to cast 130, and do the rest while you are lookin at the dead body waiting for a cleric

Unfortunatly with all the swell people in gemstone there are a few selfish autistic cocksuckers that seem to work themselves into the mix.

Aesthetic gave a kick ass suggestion. If they continue to puss after that, highlight them slapdick red and leave it at that.

agreed. I sanct, heal, then voln fog back usually. I actually quit doing rescues for the most part because of idiots. Oh and you have to love when you say something to them in guild and they say "OH! I'm so sorry, I didn't know you were a healer" well.. I fogged them back dumbass, maybe you could ask if you weren't sure.

My cleric has no problems with killing other clerics that intrude on his rezzing. He's an asshole though.

Normally I would fog back and change speak to guild and say "With soandso". That way there was no doubt whom I was with.

I also had an issue with the corpse not knowing I was a healer and asking for healing when we landed. So I would tell them I would heal them up when we landed at our destination.

But yea, I've bound a few newbies into next week and watched them bleed out, as well as drug them to the next room and issued a quick lesson in the effectiveness of boneshatter. They usually remember the lesson, since I've not had to repeat the 'class' with the same person.

I actually would have but he was completely obliterated and I hate healing down scars. My empath is more of a hunter then a healer, I was just trying to be nice.

Agree this is bad... unfortunately, at the barrier, it's not just people with a cleric/empath that jumps in, seems there are some vultures hanging out hidden or invisible that leech onto bodies as soon as they emerge. Pisses the hell out of me, especially when it's a cleric or empath that rescues me. Anyone know if putting a cleric on cold demeanor will prevent them from linking like it prevents empaths from healing you?

It won't prevent them from linking, no, but you can UNLINK to stop them from raising.

Demeanor doesn't do anything while dead anyway (unless they changed this or something). Empaths are still free to leech from you no matter how you feel about the situation.

And I've had lots of empaths sop up someone's wounds that I've rescued. It's extremely annoying and I imagine even more so when you go someplace particularly dangerous for the rescue. I've always assumed it was because my empath rarely "looks" like an empath (no scars), and so people tend to think a cleric rescued them at first glance. But since she's not the only one it happens to... I guess our profession just has a bunch of shitheads in it. Oh well.

Demeanor doesn't do anything while dead anyway (unless they changed this or something). Empaths are still free to leech from you no matter how you feel about the situation.

Sadly enough, that cant be said for only empaths nowdays. But yes, there is a plethora of shithead vulture'ing empaths now, especially with their enhanced ability and significant experience gaining capabilities.

I apologized and gave her a huge effing tip to make up for it. I think she rescued me again after that, but I knew that time. If someone rescues you, and that person is an empath/cleric, or HAS an empath/cleric, I say they get full rights to your corpse in healing and/or raising. If you encounter someone that doesn't agree with ideology, 1106 isn't just for mobs.

I feel the same way as a cleric. If I rescue you, I AM going to rez you. If you bring your own cleric in to rez you, I will 317 said cleric.

Edit: That sounded harsh. I'd of course wait until you fogged in and THEN instantly linked them before I would kill you. Can't wait the 20 seconds for you to rez em.

My girlfriend has an empath and cleric on her account, but when I die and they can't get to me, they stay away. One of my characters is a picking role, I understand the service side of this game. It's too bad that more people don't...they just see a free ride back to town like it's owed to them.
