Boring as fuck. I'm about ready to give this game up.

Three years ago those would have been great.

Now they're horribly outdated.

What is HJ?
Hero's Journey is the new 3-D Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game by the original masters of the genre, Simutronics Corporation. Currently in production with a scheduled 2007 release, Hero's Journey promises fun, fast-paced action combined with immersive environments and gameplay.

By 2007, they mean 2009 or 2010?

What sucks is I'll probably give it a try.. since I enjoy the history of Elanthia and the gameplay of a graphical game.

ROFL, I was just reading on MMO how they were updating their graphics too and to not worry about that.

That's just horrible. They need that game to look like Oblivion.

At the rate they are moving, they need to do more then make it look like Oblivion, they need to have a time machine so they can go into the future 5 years, so they won't suck when the game does finally get released.

And those screenshots remind me of Elder Scrolls graphics like 10 years ago. Yea, I should hope they will do some updating to their graphics.

I'm pretty sure you're exaggerating... I don't remember anything looking nearly like the HJ environment 10 years ago, especially not Elder Scrolls. Morrowind's graphics are worse than HJ.

I could be wrong, but as I recall, I did really like their graphics. Maybe it wasn't 10 years ago, but it was definitely along time ago.

I started to look for graphics from the old ES games, but decided I didn't want to spend my time doing that.

The only thing wrong with the graphics is that they still don't have the goddamn shadows on.

Here's Elder Scrolls from 10 years ago:

The shadows are Top Secret, and will only be revealed at game release.

Simutronics is a company that prides itself on its ability to frequently and dynamically upgrade its games. The tradition of regular updates that we started 15 years ago will be alive and well in Hero's Journey. Players should expect frequent mini-releases as well as larger boxed expansions.

Eh, I think they look comparable to other similar games. May not be the best, but they look pretty good in my humble opinion. There seems to be a lot of depth and detail in the textures of all of the shots. I'd hit it.

They have very cartoony detail though. And everything has layers. The environs look....fake.

I was studying the environment, and I kept getting flashbacks of Elder Scrolls ... um ... damn, loaned that copy out ... but I got that copy of Elder Scrolls about five or six years ago.

The gems in the plants, the fungus on the trees, the over sized mushrooms.

Probably just coincidence.

I don't think it looks that bad actually. I thought about 8 months ago that HJ was finally building some steam, turns out it was in engine sales. It seems like the actual game is stalled. Either they're going to release it prematurely a la Battleship 3000 or take forever developing and redeveloping it a la Duke Nukem: Forever.

At this point, it's pretty much just a demo for this engine of theirs.

Which will be obsolete in about six months ago.

Sheesh, what a bundle of lies regarding their past performance.

All I hear when they mention mini-releases as well as larger boxed expansion is "We are going to lift you by the ankles and shake the money out of you!"

There's international interest in the engine, it can't be all that bad.
