btw, Joe Buck's call of the most historic pitch in the past 30 something years? Sucked.
Joe Buck sucks in general, but I thought he would have at least raised his voice above his usual fucking monotone, and not been silent for about 30 seconds like always.

Then we get to go through the Is he/isn't he all over again. Hopefully by then (atleast 5 years) we'll a better handle on what is actually going into their bodies.
The best part of all of this is Barry can finally retire now and free up a large chunk of the giants payroll.

A-Rod already has more seasons with over 50 homers than Bonds, isn't that trippy? Anyway, for all his faults I think it's pretty clear Rodriguez isn't juicing.
I'm anxious to hear how the PTI guys treat it, myself.

Fuck baseball. And didnt he use steroids? If so, thats cheating and Hank Aaron should fuck Barry Bullshit up. Besides that, fuck baseball and sportcenter for showing nothing but baseball all damn week. God I hate baseball.
Revon is clearly unAmerican.

" It annoys me when people complain about athletes taking steroids to improve athletic performance. It's a phony argument, because over the years every single piece of sports equipment used by athletes has been improved many times over. Golf balls and clubs; tennis balls, racquets; baseball gloves and bats; football pads and helmets and so on through every sport. Each time technology has found a way to improve equipment it has done so. So why shouldn't a person treat his body the same way? In the context of sports, the body is nothing more than one more piece of equipment, anyway. So why not improve it with new technology? Athletes use weights, why shouldn't they use chemicals?
Consider the Greek Phidippides, a professional runner who, in 490 B.C., ran from Athens to Sparta and back (280 miles) to ask the Spartans for help against the Persians in an upcoming battle that threatened Athens. Don't you think his generals would have been happy to give him amphetamines if they had been available? And a nice pair of New Balance high-performance running shoes while they were at it? Grow up, purists. The body is not a sacred vessel, it's a tool.
For as long as the game has been played, there have been cheaters. And for as long as there have been preventative measures against cheating, people have found new ways to give themselves an "unfair" advantage. I quote "unfair" because it is only an opinion to deem it unfair, not a fact. If players can bone their bats, shouldn't pitchers be allowed to use sandpaper and spit? And if pitchers and hitters are allowed to do that, then shouldn't players (and people in general) be allowed to use steroids? Where is the line drawn between boning your bats and using steroids that makes the use of steroids so much more extreme?"
*NO cheating on guessing who said that tho.
Clearly not Curt Schilling.

Baseball still sucks. And last I remember, steroids were illegal. Why? because it poses serious health issues to the user. I dont remember a golf ball or a Tennis racket being that dangerous. I could be wrong though. Point being, if everyone athlete used steroids then we'd have a lot of sick athletes.

<<Why? because it poses serious health issues to the user.>>
That's not what determines if something is illegal. Guns, tobacco, and alcohol are not illegal.

Please explain to me how it is clear A-Rod isn't juicing? He hasn't suddenly gained 4 shoe sizes, for one. I mostly say it because I've looked at the trajectory of home run totals for everyone in the 500 club and Rodriguez doesn't stand out at all. I'm not saying that's ironclad evidence, but it would surprise me that he was illegally enhanced.

Arod is on a faster pace than Bonds ever was.
Latrinsorm
08-08-2007, 05:28 PM
That's exactly why Bonds' numbers look so suspicious. In terms of HRs through the season he started when he was 30, Bonds is 14th out of 22 guys in the 500 club. 14th!! He's #1 in the seasons following, a full 57 ahead of Babe Ruth.
Put it this way: A-Rod had 464 after his 30 season. If he played to the age Bonds is now he'd only need to average 25(!!!!) HRs a season to get to 756.

Can't wait for A-Rod to break Bonds' record. I can't think of an athlete I've rooted against more.
Please explain to me how it is clear A-Rod isn't juicing?
I don't think he's took steroids recently (he did before IMO) but he definitely took HGH. Your head doesn't just get bigger. You can get some fat on your skull, but 40 year old men don't have their skull actually grow unless they are taking HGH.

HUH?!
Active players 31-and-under with at least 250 home runs
AGE HR
A. Rodriguez 31 478
V. Guerrero 31 347
A. Jones 30 347
T. Glaus 30 263
A. Pujols 27 256
He's already over 100 home runs ahead of bonds, the babe and hank aaron at the same age.
Doesn't stand out my ass.

Doesn't stand out my ass.Trajectory, not total. The people who stand out, trajectory-wise, are Sosa, Bonds, McGwire, and Ruth. Palmeiro, interestingly, blends right in with Mays and Aaron at the end of his career.

Trajectory actually doesn't mean shit otherwise. Has more to do with the pitch/pitcher than anything.

I'd say the fact that A-Rod, at such a young age, began having career years is only evidence that he was juiced.

Well now you'll have to define juiced.

That A-Rod doesn't have any weird trajectory is simply a sign that he's been juicing from the very beginning.

I'd say the fact that A-Rod, at such a young age, began having career years is only evidence that he was juiced.A-Rod only holds the record for home runs (among the 500 club) at an age for 22 years (42) where he leads Eddie Matthews by 2. There are four members who have career high years younger than A-Rod's: Mel Ott (42 @ 20), Eddie Matthews (47 @ 21), Reggie Jackson (47 @ 23), and Jimmie Foxx (58 @ 24), and A-Rod isn't even done yet.
That he has a lot is testament to three things: 1) he's a great player. 2) he's stayed healthy. 3) he's played in a home run hitter's era. Griffey was only 26 behind A-Rod up to the 30 years old season, you dig?

It's not like you don't have to bust your ass just because your taking steroids. If anything, you have to work out 3x as hard to get results. Sure we would like to say that Bonds did it without taking steroids but does it really matter? This is a different time then when Hank did it. I'm happy for Bonds and Hank should have been at the fucking game.

There are plenty of other legal advantages people have today anyway. Nutrition, year round training, technology... steroids aside the records are already skewed anyway. To me it just makes Babe, Hank and other superstars of their Era even more impressive.
The good part in all of this is atleast people that aren't die hard baseball fans are learning about some of these older players that shaped the game.
