What are the best sorcerer hunting grounds for each level range? - I'll try to keep the first post updated with the sugguestions. - Nice starting place... what should a level 55 be hunting?

Best sorcerer hunting grounds in History of GS is Plane 5 when you're 86 and it's the first time a lost soul can't scare the shit out of you with fear.
No one.. NO ONE cleans that shit up like a sorcerer, PLUS no one can save a corpse like one there either.

That was the one ground I was going to comment on. I was going to say OTF at cap, but I guess if you dont mind the wait times for the Rift, Plane 5 is easier.

So . . . why are sorcs better than, say, a bard on plane 5?

I've only hunted there once. I got hit about 30 seconds of RT and proned while trying to climb; I had a mere 2 boxes on me (hurray burghal gnome encumbrance). I got vap'd while in RT; I nearly tore my penis off and threw it at the monitor.

The other time I hunted in the Rift I didn't want any info so I could try and discover the game again. Guess I wanted to get that rush like I did way way way back when. I picked up the wrong type of gem and died quickly. I was less than pleased.

Well at 55 I couldn't take stone giants & trolls. They're a bit too CMish for my tastes... I found that Eidolons in Solhaven work pretty well. They can cast Forget (at least, that's what I think it is, they never hit me with it - unless it's something else that can push my TD down by 100) with pretty good CS & TD pushdown, so I had to resort to using Sign Dissipation, but at least it's not 9 levels below me.

the first hunting grounds listed in each train was may favorite hunting ground at that train...

0-4 Landing GY (skeletons, ghouls ect) or Vaalor Cemetary (same stuff)

5-8 Landing GY (mummies) Vaalor Plains of Bone (dirges and golems)

9-12 Landing GY (wraiths) Vaalor Plains of Bone (spectres and wolfshades)

13-18 Landing Temple of Love (vereri) Vaalor Plains of bone (arch wights, ghoul masters)

19-23 Vaalor lower weald (spirits, zombies, and niirsha) Landing spider temple (acolytes and priests) or GY (moaners)

24-28 Vaalor upper weald (tree spirits, monks) Landing spider temple (same but add arachnids)

29-35 Zul Logoth Troll graveyard (undead trolls... crazy loot) Solhaven (Shan) Landing GY ledge (pookas) Illistim Wraithenmist (lords, mara)

...I DO NOT SUGGEST THE BOWELS UNTIL MAYBE 85 OR SO!!!! (but I hunt there anyways, I'm stubborn)

there are many other places to hunt... but I have found strategies that are perfect for a sorcerer in these places. Can't tell ya much past that, as my oldest sorcerer is 77 trains... besides, if you are at that point, there is only a few places left to hunt... Rift, Bowels, OTF, Teras temple...

lessee... I hunted rats, then some other sundry things around the Landing... esp in the graveyard.
Then:
Wraiths (real fun)
Nedum Vereri
Zombies (ran outta mana until I leveled some, there should be something better)
The easy side of the Misty Chamber (spectral monks and such- pretty rich, too)
Then the Shadow Valley (pookas were really easy- good spawn/poor loot, had a tougher time with miners)
Haven't gone any further, I think Rada is sitting fallow at about 38 to 40.


I seem to hunt alot of undead (Rada is Voln, for whatever reason), but they like to die more easily than living (and Disintigrate if they're non-corporeal).

Sorcs can climb the thread with boxes NO problem with their phase ability.
No creature there can survive 720 at all.
Phase makes Lost Souls into cake.
410 + 111 just tears Vaesps apart.
Not to mention animate dead can get a corpse from plane 5 to the cavern in no time whatsoever.

Lvl 86 in the Rift is where you take a step back and realise your Sorcerer is fucking amazing.

Bumping an old thread, just so those that I am helping in Icemule can see a list of things to hunt.

Level

0-4 Rats, Underground at the nest. Thyrills out the south gate.

5-8 Leapers and lesser orcs, Southern Snowfields. Now days watch out for those who have bandit tasks there.
Monkeys and Crabs on Thurfel's island.

9-12 Snow Specters in the Snow Fort. Also, Wall guardians and rabid dogs in Thurfel's Keep.

13-17 Silverback Orcs and Mountain Orges out the East Gate. Wraiths on the Abandoned Farm.

18-23 Vereri and Arch wights in the Abbey. The fun times in the swarms of Thurfel's Cellar.

24-28 Zombies on the Abandoned Farm. Inside the kitchen there are 3 rooms and if you have yourself and another person
in your group, they will swarm and keep coming. Loved how fast it was to fry there.

29-34 Arctic Manticores behind the gate and the Skeletal Ice Trolls in the trench.

35-40 Loved the Ice Cave on the Trail. Cold guardians and Arctic Titans. The only drawback, don't die in the cave or on the trail.
The main portion of the farm was fun, always did hunt that place in groups.

41-54 Frost Giants, Lesser Ice giants, Greater Ice Giants out the East Gate going up to Pinefar. This was there most fun and hardest of times.
Glacei and Ice Wraiths, the best was Seekers.

At that point it was time to move away from the only place I had ever known to hunt. Decided I would go the Ta'Illistim.

54-59 Gossamer Valley, kind of reminded me of Icemule and the Glacier a bit.

60-65 Hunted in the Black Forest, really liked the treetops.

66-70 Skull Temple and the Griffin's Keen. Thanks to alot of climbing training, GoS sigils and growing up in Icemule the Keen wasn't too bad. Was very happy when they made the change to
hybrid CS so Webbing the griffin's became easier.

70-77 Could have stayed at the Keen and kept skinning Storm Griffins but wanted to check out the Minoutars in the Landing.

Here are a few more that I used quite frequently. I can't verify spelling from work so pardon me for that. I note your comments about Stone Valley, but with limb disrupt or E-wave and DC which they are very weak against, a Sorcerer can do pretty well there. Many of these have already been listed, however I think the starting points are too late on some. In my early 60's I've really enjoyed the Temple, DC is great there too!

you want something easy, hunt slushes in gossamer valley with 111. Can do them from 48-60 (They're level 54).

Another super easy area is the skeletal ice troll trench in icemule, again with 111.

Stay away from those more populated areas and give yourself a bit of challenge to boot. C'mon you're a sorcerer, GS is too easy!

20-28 RR Krovlin warfs and RR jungle
28-35 RR Krovlin Carrack, Hisskra and the Moor
35-42 RR Miasmal Forest and Oteseka's Haven
42-70 TI start in villiage, wind roltons/pyros, lava golems through mages!
70-84 Rift baby, get some! Plane 1-3
84-100 OTF or nelemar Screw those bastard fading ithzir and the racists in illistim though, 75k for chalk, please.

For added fun hunt the citadel in RR in your 40's and 50's.

I would say 50s Stone Giants and Stone Trolls are great. DC destroys them, 703 ensures you never get boiled, and just stay light to dodge falling giants.

The same is true for Stronghold, but going 50 - 68 in Stronghold against nothing but monsters that boil and fall on you can be aggravating. The better thing to do is just head to Wyneb in Illistim.

Griffin's Keen is the right level range, but its a nightmare of a hunting ground.

If you're thinking about hunting the Keen, I highly recommend training for bolt web (118) and using that in combination with fire spirit (111). Although I would suggest just sticking to Wyneb because the falling in the Keen is just aggrivating as heck.

I'd agree on the Wyneb instead of Keen. Wyneb is one of those few hunting grounds where Sorcerers are really good. Heirophants are one of those rare semis who are TRULY susceptible to 719, Dogs are the same way, and Supplicants are bipedal meatloaf with no tricks at all (aka my favorite type of enemy). Corrupt Essence works great on Heir/Dogs, though I actually went straight from Supps to Dogs as I hunted. Its also a really good level range for bounties, since you will be getting pretty much nothing but Keen and Wyneb, or depending on your level, some Black Forest/Maaghara (both of which are also good bounty locations).

Thats just me. I know there are two types of people; ones who want efficient and safe hunting, and ones who want dangerous and exciting hunting. I'm one of the former.

So I have moved on from the Wyned... Thanks for all the info. Now I am hunting Maaghara Labyrith. I was using 703 followed by a few shots of 705 with good success in the Wyned, however I am having trouble with the same tactics in the ML. Anyone have an alternative attach for up in there? I am level 70. Thanks!

719 the shricken and the Dhu gholaras. I'm pretty sure they were both magical. It was the Moulis that was the real threat.

While I disagree that they are the real threat (Easily Shricken in my opinion), they are the least susceptible to 719, so you have to whittle them down with MD or something, and they have way too much health. It's good to be a sorcerer. Things like health totals don't mean a whole lot to 711.

At the time, the 10 mana it took to kill a Moulis with MD was what I needed to ration my mana supplies through a hunt. I couldn't afford 33 per moulis, especially when I missed 10% of the time. Slightly faster, but only 9 seconds to what was otherwise 15 seconds.

Shricken and Goleras got the 719 treatment, with 702 to finish the job. Goleras are surprisingly low health.

Definitely agree with this except the trolls. Giants are a little rough. I was 48 when I started hunting bonespear. The only bad part is the waern will make you drop your weapon. Eidolons are pretty easy if you just 715 from guarded then 705 or 702 all day. They are pretty low in health so either kills them quickly. Dybbuks are just big tank and spanks. Have decent health. Like I said I am 51 and been there since 48 no problem.
