I just upgraded to Windows Vista, Biz' (which is the tits, I'll have you know) and transfered my Winamp directory to a new folder from Windows.old.
Whenever I try and edit an MP3's info by right-clicking on it in Winamp 5.35, I get a message that says, "Can't insert ID3v2 tag! Stop playback to unlock file and try again."
I absolutely CANNOT have anything but Winamp in my life. It is my heart, soul and even flatulents...
No "change your MP3 player dude"'s allowed. Just suggestions on how to fix my baby (I am MAD OCD when it comes to MP3 sorting. And anything MP3.)
O.K. Thanks in advance... You... Person?

Uninstall Winamp and then reinstall it.

Yeah. I just didn't want to move 6 gigs, but it seems like that was easier than I thought, once I added the damn "type" and "date modified" tab.
I have no idea why the Winamp folder gets rid of those and replaces them with Artist, Album, etc. yet doesn't keep the basics.
Oh well. Winamp has formed again, like Voltron.

Is winamp worth using? I know it got bought by AOL and then started sucking and I think it even had a malware tie-in phase... it just seems to me that the latest edition of media player is pretty swanky and I feel no need for more... am I missing something?
Oh and I would really rather not have viewport shoved up my machines ass :( ...

Time Warner owns Nullsoft and AOL independently, AOL has nothing to do with Winamp. And Nullsoft doesn't automatically start sucking when it gets sold since they didn't replace all the employees.

I installed winamp on my system a while back, then I uninstalled it cause it wasn't working right, and it decided to also delete some DLL file that was apparently crucial to windows functioning correctly, since I ended up having to reinstall my whole OS due to it.
Thanks Winamp!

I'd really be surprised if Time Warner spent $100M on Nullsoft and didn't sneak some assinine shit into winamp...
Decided to do a little research and sure enough, winamp installs Wild Tangent, a nice little piece of shit software that's included with AIM as well. I think there is a winamp lite, but unless I hear some compelling reason not to I'll continue to use WMP and MPC for my media playing needs.

I obviously haven't downloaded Winamp since it started including Wild Tangent, then. But I also only use Winamp Pro and they might not be total dicks about that since Wild Tangent is, in fact, a giant PoS.
I use winamp lite, it's great, wouldn't think of using anything else. No WildTangent either.
