I remember reading something about Chief Seattle. It was a probably 15 years ago, but the gist of it was that this whole speech about 'the web of life' that's attributed to him was actually a made up speech by someone and attributed to him either after his death, or without his knowledge or consent.

Whether or not that quote is part of what that article was refering to, I have no idea.
