Plz don't laugh at me :(

I've only used a computer for surfing and GS, so I don't know how to do anything really.

How would I go about changing a picture's dimension? I need to make an image 800x600.

I personally utilize photoshop for that, but odds are with what you stated, you do not have Photoshop. Do you have any image editing software?

You can go on google and search for free image resizing software. Most stuff works pretty well.

Or you could post the picture here and some kind soul could resize it for you.

^ Or what Nieninque said. ^

Just don't let her do it, you can see how it would effect her by her avatar. :)

Or photochop you into pretty blusher and eyeliner.

The temptation would be great indeed.

I would either post it here, if you trust the PC GP... or you can U2U it to someone who has editing software like photoshop or paintshop and they can resize it to your specs.

MSPaint can resize images, no need to run around downloading things from a series of tubes. When you've opened your image, go to Image >> Stretch/Skew and put in bigger numbers than 100% in both Stretch boxes.

With MSPaint, you can't directly put the target number of pixels in. What you can do is go to Image >> Attributes, divide 800 and 600 by whatever you have, and then put those percentages in the aforementioned boxes.

If this is too much of a hassle, IrfanView is a delightful little program that I remember being easy to download. (But then again, you have to muck about in that dump truck thing, and that's always an ordeal.)

I'd totally knock that off and change the first letter with two consonants; 'cept that I'm still in it, and innit, to have the PC crown of avatar most-long-withstanding.

skirmisher would take that

Shit, that's true.

Can I still have a plastic consolation trophy?

Okay, I can get it to the right size with some random program I got for resizing pictures. Thanks for the suggestions.

But why does it look all blurry and shitty? What can I do about that?

<<MSPaint can resize images>>

MSPaint can't save JPEGs at anywhere near medium, let alone high, quality.

Are you increasing size or decreasing size? If you're making it bigger, you might just be fuxxored (unless you've got a CSI crime lab, then you can use reflections in the picture to increase the quality of your camera phone pictures to full size billboard quality).

If you're making it smaller and you change the resolution by a non evenish amount and you're using a shitty program that doesn't employ good multi-sampling it'll look like crap.

Thankfully through the magic of FUCKING GOOGLING "ONLINE PHOTO RESIZEING"!! I found a page that lets you just select your photo, select the dimensions, and it'll resize it for you...

I'm making it bigger. Every time I download any picture to set as a desktop background, it's really small but it perfectly detailed.

When I make it bigger the quality is shitty. That's the only problem now.

Oh. Well. That's never a good idea.

There are plenty of really good hi-res pictures available at http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/

Nothing I can do, then?

Well, thanks for the help guys. I know how to resize pictures now, at least.

HAH! That'd be awesome...

And did anyone else read the topic and originally think this was going to be a question about physics or optics.. or time travel?

Don't worry, I'm not gonna cry. I deserve to be mocked for this, lol.

But yes, that is exactly the problem. I didn't know it would make a difference.

Thanks, all. I now have a wallpaper to show my <3 of FF8.

Glad I could help, Smooth. :)
