So, now that the season's more than half way over...who do you think is going to win? I'll quote myself.

This will be the year of the Brewers.

Remember that quote during the playoffs

"I'm anxiously awaiting David Wright's monster comeback and the emergence of between one and three dynamite young pitchers for the Mets. I'm hoping our various quadrigenarians make it more or less through the season."

He's doin' AIIIIIIIIIIIGHT, but I nailed that pitcher thing. I kind of jinxed Alou into an exploding quad though. :(

HOWEVER

I still like the Mets all t3h way. Big series coming up VS. the aforementioned Brew Crew: I see the Mets taking 3 games IN A SWEEP (beginning with Glavine notching #300), putting the Cubs SQWARLY in first place in the Central.

Rooting for the Phils (5 game winning streak) but they'll end up blowing it in typical Philadelphia fashion if they are still in it at the end of the season.

the tribe will not make the mistake of falling apart and blowing their playoff hopes at the end of the season this year. hoping for at least a wildcard if they can't get past the tigers and the yankees cool off.

Hopefully, after a long rest, we will have the old Pedro back. The killer Pedro of legend and not the one who made last place teams look like all stars.

Indians win the whole thing. (I'm a sox fan but Ortiz is banged up, Nancy Drew is hitting .245 with 6 hrs, Schillings a stupid asshole, Lugo's around .225 AFTER raising his avg 50 points in july...) Indians beat dodgers in 6 for WS. (I like Met's but your rotation is a joke, if you were A.L you'd be 5 games under .500)

Cubies dont have the pitching to hold up in the playoffs, i dont 'think' Zambrano (a bad call away from a meltdown) Lilly would be solid, but everythings iffy past them.. Dumpster as closer???... Brewers win NL Central.

I only cheer for the Indians because the Buffalo Bisons (I know, redundant...or contradictory..or something) are their triple A farm team.

Otherwise I'm a BoSox fan.

good luck with that, the braves win that thing every year. if they dont, the mets will.

Yeah, Mets won it last year but for the last few the Phils have made a late season push to make the playoffs anyway and fallen just short. This team is probably our best chance to get in and even win the division despite how well the Mets and Braves have been doing this year. If our pitching can play at the level they have been at since the all-star break then its ours to lose imo. 9-2 in last 11 games. Still have to play the Mets and Braves twice each yet this year though :(

Phillies have 25 less championships than the Yanks. The Phillies haven't made the playoffs since 1993; the Yankees haven't missed the playoffs since 1993.

Please don't compare our Pathetic Phillies to the Yankees.

PS. I understand you're referring to this season, but you have to look at the whole picture.

:twitch: The last stance Yankee fans take when they're losing an argument. I don't see Laker fans boasting about their team's championships. Either a team is good now or they're not. I respect they were great then, but they need to stick to the now, not 100+ years ago. By the same argument, the Mets can win 10 straight championships starting this year, and still have nothing on the Yankees.

The Yankees and Red Sox make all the case that should be required for a Salary cap on baseball.

The Yankees haven't missed the playoffs since 1993, that is something worth mentioning because the current management has a hand in that.

I was specifically responding to the assertion that the Phillies are just as good with 100 million less payroll. They aren't unless you're looking at what I believe is an unreasonably small part of the picture.
