As far as IG and OOG relationships go, I should have listened to those who posted saying that they just don't mix.
After trying it myself, I'm in complete agreement with you.

Thank you for abducting my thread and attempting to make me look bad.
To bring this thread back to the reason why I created it...
I now understand why people said that having an IG relationship with someone that you're also having an OOG relationship with usually doesn't fly. Then again, I do admit there *are* people who pull it off successfully, like Daina and Khaitiff.
*shrug* It just made me think, that's all.

She wasn't your "responsibility" in the first place. She was your girlfriend. It's not up to you to police her. She is who she is. You can't try to change people because you think the way they act is wrong. You should have broken up long ago, if that's been the case.

Hmm. I am going to say something here that, I hope, will be of help to both of you. This is no place to air your problems with one another, or to discuss the breakup of your relationship.
I am sincerely sorry for any hurt that has come to either of you. Relationships are difficult under the best of circumstances, but when the problems therein are brought to a message board like this, no good can come of it for anyone involved.
Learn from your mistakes, as we all must do. Then, simply go on with your lives and wish each other well. :)

I've heard of people who make that kind of stuff work too, but if it ISN'T working, it's time to do a priority check.

If people love each other, and they're marriage minded, why shouldn't they be allowed to be married?
Their sex shouldn't matter. It's their relationship, nobody elses. If they want to legalize it, and share their belongings, they should have that right.

This is no place to bring your relationship problems. It only winds up making you and your significant other, or your ex, bad.
Jealousy is something that happens to most relationships, the best thing to do is to talk about it together and work things out or break up, but airing it out in the public is a BAD thing. A very very bad thing.

I do not feel that I can tell anyone with whom they can fall in love. That is up to the individual. As for marriage, I truly believe it is a silly concept. If one wishes to commit to another, why is it necessary to have a piece of paper legalizing said union?
Marriage simply involves the legal system in a love relationship. I see no need for such involvement, but that is my perspective. It is not necessarily right for everyone. :)

Playing games in other languages can be beneficial if you're trying to learn, and have a basic understanding of the language. Full immersion into a language is the best way to learn it quickly. While I would hardly say that Playing Gemstone is "full immersion into english", it does help a lot along the way.

If I may offer a bit of insight that results from my piercing ability to see the truth, I'd say you offered to marry her because to you, marriage is a way to posess her. I'm not saying you thought this consciously, but the jealousy you've demonstrated tells me you were behaving posessively.
Marriage is a good thing when both people have respect and comittment for each other, not just one person roping another one in.

You're serious? What does not help me is the fact I am RARELY corrected in a proper form (don't use that, use that instead, or use that word) I try alone to find the correct way and it can be a pain, you know..
I can teach you some french! I am really good at it!

Inyuasha...Big-O... Bah gotta love Family Guy and Futurama lol. Then weekends we got Brak n Space Ghost n Sealab and ATHF. All in all not a bad watch i suppose could be better in my opinion. Though i'd like to note Cartoon Networks broadcasting of Star Wars : Clone Wars, or at least the first ten out of twenty chapters which can be viewed here (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/clonewars/index.html).(<- Click)

I can't tell you how often I want to bean him in the back of the skull with a shoe! And I'm quite sure he feels the same way on a regular basis. It's very hard, but for us, it's better than the alternative. It certainly isn't for everyone, though.
If you really want to make it work you have to not let yourselves slip into the 'enemy' mode... this is your best friend, the person you love. Believe me I know how hard it can get to remember that when ALL you want to do is let that shoe fly! :D But that's the only way it will work, gotta approach everything side-by-side instead of facing-off. Both of us being Scorpios, we face off and butt heads all the time. It's just a question of stubbornness at times. :)
Heh, bad thing is, if I was you and he caught me on a bad day, the shoe would fly... and hit right on target or at least the wall.
Damn I can be a bitch sometimes.

Okay this is insane. I've read a few pages, and as much as I love Jessa and Greg, (mich whirl), and are their friends in real life, I'll have to say this is absurd. Greg worhips the ground Jessa walks on, you guys never seen the way he looks at her when we hung out, it was sweet. Me and Darren date in game and in real life, though it is in fact hard, I'm not going to cheat on him, nor am I going to hurt him in anyway. If I have a problem with him, I would do the mature thing which in this case would be talking to your loved one privately, not posting on a message board for people to start insulting my boyfriend again, because they know its happened before.
I try to give good advice, but this time its not about good advice, its about something much deeper then that ... its about two people who need to take this to heart, and think about it. NOT posting on a board as I mentioned above. And I think for once, many of you would agree with me. And about those who said Jessa is pretty in her pictures, yes she's a pretty girl, but because she's pretty does that mean she should break up with Greg and find someone better? From what I *SEE/SAW* (wee see saw) he adores her, and she loves him. If only you could of seen what I saw at the mall that day, it was sweet. The reason we are friends in the first place was because we started talking and had the most important thing in common, IG and OOG relationships, and advice was a really good thing, even though it got out of hand sometimes, I have always been appreciative. But I guess I'll try to give advice here ... talk to eachother, or your friends. Thats why we are here.

Give Atheana a break Edaarin. These couple posts were like the most unemotional I've seen from her. Hey you should do like me and rejoice in the fact that she DID say "most, not all." That's not a blanket statement in my book. It's an opinion, not one I agree with, but it's not blanket. I think Atheana did learn something and I'm happy to note a change in her posting style, whether or not I agree and/or like what she says.

Grow up, Atheana. Michi is what, 17? Just because someone worships the ground she walks on is NOT a good enough reason to stay with them. Staying with someone who loves you like that, when you don't return those feelings, is unfair to both parties.
Stand your ground Michiko, because only you know what is right for you. I had a really hard time letting go of someone I fell in love with around your age, and the worst mistake I made was extending the breakup over a period of about six months rather than making it a clean snap.
You've got lots of time. Enjoy it.

Seriously do you expect the woman you're with to drop everything she's doing stop dead in her tracks and hang on your every word like some trained dog? I hope not.
Michiko, you are young, beautiful and have an exciting future before you. You will get through this and someday will find a guy who will appreciate you and accept you for who you are. After all, that is what love is about.

well excuse me if I don't think that it's too much to ask that she actually talk to me when I call. And excuse me if I'm a little insecure when she talks about driving down to Virginia to meet all of the guys she talks to on PC. And forgive me for seeing her gradually ignore me more and more every time I want to talk to her because she's too busy with her friends. And if it's wrong of me to get upset when I see them making sexual comments about her, and her not doing anything to stop it, it makes me upset. And excuse me if I actually try to value any type of time I can spend with her.
Whatever, not that any of that matters anymore.

Are you fucking joking me? Excuse me if I think that a marriage, even if in game, means not to ignore eachother. It means to actually listen to one another when they have problems. How is it immature of me to be pissed off when she makes fun of me to other people without talking to me about it first?

You know what, I don't think we can go on either her side or his side. We don't see how she really treats him or how he really treats her. We're not in their relationship and have no right to judge either one.

It's over, Whirlin, you should accept it. You should be glad that she left you instead of leading you on and keeping you on the hook all the time. Whining about how it happened isn't going to make it any better at this point.

Dude... mellloooow. Rethink the whole situation. In fact, if you're not in some weird time zone, why not sleep on it and start fresh tomorrow. It's just going to get uglier if you stay this course.

I don't recall her (Michiko) ever saying she was going to come here (VA) to hook up. Its a gathering. Learn to trust, my best relationships have also been grounded deeply in trust.
PS - Spun has it right, clean breaks are good. Long, hurtful (particularly PUBLIC) breakups are nasty.

1. Men are retarded. If they can't make an effort to keep their stupidity under control, they aren't worth your time.
2. I've been in a situation like this, and it sucks. Never, ever, never never mix IG and OOG stuff. Because you will regret it.
3. I'm sorry for the both of you to have to go through this, but you have to realize that in the end, you're both young, you both have lives to live... Michiko can't spend every waking moment thinking/talking to Whirlin, and he cannot do the same. It's good to have friends. Most of my friends are guys. I jsut don't trust chicks. It shouldn't be a jealousy thing.

Okay I'm going to comment here because I have talked to Michiko about this.
Michiko ..whirlin I love you guys and you know this. But as I told Michiko i've had my own bad personal experience with a IG/OOG relationship and it sucks.
I can see both point of views. Whirlin is seeing these guys flirt constantly with someone he loves. Then others bragging about calling her, and her calling him. When you are far apart also. Those sort of things can lend to your insecurities. He see's her talking to others but when he calls her..shes off talking to them. Seems distracted among other things.
Then you have those that post even joking wise how they want to do her marry her flirt constantly with her. Yes should he know her better. Completely. Can I understand why he's insecure, sure. Does it make it right or wrong, no.
Then I see Michiko's point of view being hurt that he doesn't trust her enough. Trust is a huge issue with relationships if you have no trust , you have no relationship. But also take a step back and look at it from what he's saying.
Am I bashing you Michiko no honey I'm not and you know this I talked to you about before and told you what happened to me. I think you two need a good long talk but then again its my not my place to judge.
Remember I'm here for you both if you need someone to talk to or just to rant at. You have my IM if you need it.
we should start a PC reality series, people would watch

I do not feel that I can tell anyone with whom they can fall in love. That is up to the individual. As for marriage, I truly believe it is a silly concept. If one wishes to commit to another, why is it necessary to have a piece of paper legalizing said union?
Marriage simply involves the legal system in a love relationship. I see no need for such involvement, but that is my perspective. It is not necessarily right for everyone. :)

...I'd be a lot more insecure over being in college for the first time than over her talking to some guy on IMs she's never even met before. My high school sweetheart and I tried the distance thing last year, and it didn't work because we only saw each other during breaks. So we called it quits, decided to try that whole 'college' thing, and never ruled out getting back together. Was I hurt that she wanted to see who else was out there? Yeah, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't do the same thing. I flirted with girls at my school, I'm sure she flirted with guys at her school, but until we did break up I trusted her not to take it beyond that.
Trust is a beautiful thing. It's not like you haven't flirted with other girls, IG or otherwise.

I agree with you Daina, being possessive enough to demand all of another persons attention when you want is ridiculous. Lets face it, my number one priority <> your number one priority. Relationships are a lot of give and take, compromise and trust. If you are missing that trust and compromise, makes for a very hard time.

Well, I'll be the in the minority here...I like talking on the phone...
Actually, correction. It depends on who I'm talking to. There have been times I've talked to someone on the phone for hours on end...we didn't realize how long we were on the phone... Then there are people that I dreaded even a 2 minute conversation with. One guy I dated..when the phone would ring, my heart would sink..heh.
But back on topic, from what I've read...Wow. I mean, I don't think Whirlin is the schmuck you're all making him out to be. He seems to love/have loved Michiko a lot. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not blasting Michiko...and I'm not saying the way he went off on her a little while back was deserved, either. I just think it's unforunate that things had to take a bad turn and they needed to end their relationship. I won't judge them or the relationship because I don't know anything about either one of them other than from what I read here on the boards..but they both seem like sweet people, and they made a nice looking couple. Hopefully the split can/will be as amicable as possible and they both find what they are looking for.
By the way..the LUDICROUS COMMENT OF THE CENTURY was: "I could have given you the advice you need." ..LMAO. No, Michiko can't decide what's best for herself...she has to have...the person who made that comment..advise her on her decisions in life. *laugh*

No...
He should have taken the high road and pretended like he didn't care, even if it bothered him.
If he freaks out, it transfers all power to Michi and makes him look jealous/petty/immature/needy/etc...
You can't "own" someone... (you can pwn someone, but that's different:D)
By the way, Michiko, if you want to come visit Japan, you can stay at my place.
Whirlin and Michiko seem like good people, in game and on the boards. Sorry to hear of the split, but perhaps it was just time for them to move on.
I can see both sides. If I were Whirlin, I'd be pissed if I called my woman and she did something, anything else, while on the phone with me. I'd want a 'can I call you back' at the very least. Still, in a long term relationship there will be some amount of complacency but hopefully not too much. If thats the case it might be time to move on to less complacent pastures.
On Michiko's side, when I'm busy on the computer, anyone bugging me gets snapped at. Even my own mother. It dosen't mean I hate anyone, I just tend to put all my focus into my computer and it requires all my attention. Its like the other night... I was watching this show on Galileo, Newton, Einstien and Hawking. Got through the first three stories then they went on to what Hawking achieved and my roomate gets home and talks to me through the end of the show!

I like when other people talk on the phone because it's RIDICULOUSLY easy to piss them off. Just strike up a conversation when they're in mid-sentence. Hilarity ensues. Not so much for them, but by God we've got to try something!
