Seen a few previews for it and this movie looks amazing. http://www.stardustmovie.com/
Is it based on a book/series? I googled it but didn't find anything. :/

Illustrated novel from the late '90s written by Neil Gaiman.

You're actually going to want to look for the graphic novel. That's the original publication. The non-illustrated hardcover later, then the paperback came out recently in hopes of driving up interest in the upcoming movie.

Just so there wasn't confusion when you see multiple formats.

To be honest, I had qualms about seeing this in movie form. As the trailers and preview started coming I'm begining to change my mind, slowly.

They need to make Sandman into a series.

Illustrated and non illustrated novel. Both are good. Might want to stick to the non illustrated so you don't feel that the movie is worse for it.

I'll be seeing this tomorrow, but I have absolutely no background knowledge of it so I sure hope it's good.

VERY excited about this movie. I read it when it was first released and it's a really great story. The movie looks to be pretty true to the story... But then again so did the new Harry Potter movie.

I didn't know DeNiro was in it, and he was by far the greatest character ever. I can't recommend this movie enough.

I saw it last night, I really liked it. It was predictable, but that's okay, and I enjoyed the unexpected humor. I thought Claire Danes was over-acting just a teensy bit.

I havn't had a chance to see it yet. It's unfortunate that it's not playing anywhere close to me. We have a drive in pretty close and I had hoped it would be playing there but alas, no.

Claire Danes always overacts though in my opinion. I thought that part looked like it was seriously miscast when I saw she was in it. Then again, I have read and loved the graphic novel so I already have an image of what the Star should be like, and Claire isn't it.

HATE! heehee

Well my daughter managed to sit through her first "big girl" movie. We watched The Wizard Of Oz and it actually held her attention until the very end. Which is different than when she begged me to go see Pirates II and ended up trying to roll around in the sticky soda and popcorn on the floor by the second scene. Needless to say we left.

Maybe this week I'll take her across town to see it. God knows I'm dying to.

"Then again, I have read and loved the graphic novel so I already have an image of what the Star should be like, and Claire isn't it."

That's why I usually reccommend folks read the non illustrated one lately.

This movie was so enjoyable and great. I had flashbacks of Elan from OotS when Tristan was on board that airship getting training from a sky pirate.

I too enjoyed this movie. We were ROFL @ DeNiro. And Michelle Pfiefer(sp?) is still pretty hot for an old woman.

We took the kids to see it last Saturday, as someone said it was pretty predictable but it was enjoyable. DeNiro was amusing. :) Peter O'Tool as the old king also made me laugh a few times.

I thought Peter O'Toole died a while back. WTF.

He played Dumbledore in at least one HP movie but not in others which is probably why I thought he died because, I mean, come on...what actor is going to pass on a chance to play Dumbledore.

:P

Or was that Richard Harris? Jesus.

Yeah, Peter O'Toole was never in a Harry Potter movie, and is wicked alive.

The late Richard Harris played Dumbledore for the first two Potter movies until he passed away. He was a good friend, drinking buddy(read fellow hell raiser friend of Peter O'Tools). Michael Gambon took over the role after Harris's death. Gambon's done some really wicked bad guy rolls over the years as a side note.
