I been looking for a free one all day, can't seem to find one that's legitly free though that I can trust.
Anyone have some links?
Seems I have a guy calling me telling me I owe $390 which I do not, and it's a year past due. So figured that would show up on the credit score if it's legit.
Any help would be great.
Did you already use your free annual check?

Right, you're allowed one free report a year from all three (?) of the credit bureaus.

Yea, I went to annualcreditreports.com and they claim they can not show it to me that there is some sort of hold, man wtf...

Next time the guy calls tell him 2 things.
1. That he needs to provide proof of lien... meaning he needs to be able to provide proof of services rendered by you (usually an invoice), detailing the amount owed, to whom its owed, date of services, detail of services rendered, and proof of your authorization (usually in the form of your signature).
2. Tell him that in accordance with federal laws, you are advising him that you are aware and the he is to remove you from his list and to stop calling you.

Did your exwife skeeter you and not pay a bill in your name?

Well, after some searching, I was able to get one of my 3 free ones(the others claim I visited them though).
It appears to be a Sprint PCS bill in the amount of $385
I've never had sprint, I been with Verizon for now for 6 years.
Status:
Collection account. $385 past due as of Jun 2007.
That's what it shows me...
So, how do I dispute this if they have my SSN and everything saying it was me!

Identity Theft ftl.
Posession of a social security number is not evidence enough to demonstrate that the bill is yours. It sounds like someone's stolen your identity.
Call the credit agency you just got the report from and file a dispute with that charge.
Call Sprint PCS and speak to customer service/fraud about the bill and get details of the plan and work through their dispute resolution process.

Thank you sir!
And I agree, Identity theft ftl...
Ok, I called Sprint first because I don't have a return phone number for the credit agency...
Basically, the phone was put in my name in 2004, a very limited minutes plan that I could purchase minutes by some sort of card, so I wouldn't need to change my plan to get more minutes. It's a years worth of being late. They just recently opened my case to get the money in June 2007.
Not one payment was made since the time it was first opened...
So, I'm like, Uhhhh, WTF?! You will let a first time user/customer be late for 12 months before doing anything!?
Anyways, I been informed to talk with the agency, they will be calling me, because it's in their hands now and Sprint can't do a thing till the agency says otherwise.

#6 should be of some help.
Thank you sir!

Identity theft is a horrible thing. My GF has it and after spending a long time getting things removed, a whole bunch of new things just popped up. She now has to change her identity to avoid it going forward, new social sec number, everything.

Huh, I checked my credit report just now, and it said I'm overdue by like, 2 1/2 years on a Boston Edison account (which is an electricity company), which I opened in October 2004 and they closed on me in January of 2005 for never paying.
Funny thing is, I left for Africa in June 2004, and didn't even step foot again on American soil again until a wedding I came back for in July of 2005, and didn't reside in the States again til last august, let alone open an account for electricity.

Thank God for the Department of State and their insane record keeping, showing I was in the Peace Corps.
edit to add: Thanks for the report guys, didn't know you were entitled to a free one every year. Supposedly I have a hold on the EquiFax one, though, weird. Is there a way to get the actual credit SCORE without paying?

No. You gotta pay to see the actual score.
www.annualcreditreport.com is the centralized site that you can use to get the actual list of trades for your credit account.
It's a good idea to check one of the bureaus every couple of months, because mistakes occur too frequently for comfort, and YOU pay the consequences. Identity theft does suck.

The EquiFax one is saying there's a hold on it because I opened a mortgage in 2004. :( I'm sorry, I was 23 in 2004, and then I went to Africa.

That sucks. It's fairly to fix the bullshit claims if you're legit tho from my experience.
I've also learned that even if you owe $22 to a closed hospital from 10 years ago it will reappear... evidently they sell your debt before the seven year window and it starts all over again.
Who wudda thunk?
Best part is that asshole said I had no nerve damage (defensive wound in the left hand from a stabbing) ... turns out my median nerve was severed and for the past 10 years from the center of my hand up to my middle finger on down to the pinky feels pin and needles asleep forever.
