Just curious what type of music everyone listens to. They say you can tell who a person is by the music they listen to. I am into harcore/straightedge punk Throwdow, Terror, Day of contempt, Dillinger escape plan , Hatebreed... anyone else care to share?

11-24-2003, 02:44 AM
Rap. Cd's i've been listening to recently. Youngbloodz-Drinking parthz. UGK Riding dirty, Outkast aquemini. (damn new album is garbage) and like the 600+ Mp3's i have on HD which has some R&b, blues and even a lil alternative thrown in. ( i dont know how you guys classify that stuff but theres like 3 songs.)

I don't have a "genre" I stick to. I'm all over the map.

I've seen Jimmy Buffett, Lonestar, Phil Vassar, Aerosmith and KISS in concert this year (though I really just went for Aerosmith).

I also love Cat Stevens, Dave Matthews Band, U2... all sorts of music.

RangerD has a playlist that mirrors mine. Mine is more southern rap featuring more Three 6 Mafia, Pastor Troy, Playa Fly, Youngbloodz, T.I., Trick Daddy, Baby D, and a little bit of Bloods and Crips, Benzino, Crucial Conflict and Mobb Deep thrown in there.

No country. Anyone caught playing country will be sent over to sit in the corner. Or to Klaive's board.

big NIN fan, also enjoy Tool & Staind.

I used to be a big country fan (growing up listening to it). I still enjoy it, except now every other song is sad as hell and gets me all depressed. They didn't used to be like that.

I also listen to the Vice City radio stations because I enjoy their selection.

Why do most folks have this unyielding hatred for country?

Right now I've got: Folk, Scottish traditional, Country, Musical (Jesus Christ Superstar = the shit), Bob Dylan, Bruce, Kill Bill OST, CCR, some Dixieland, Elvis, Fountains of Wayne, Grateful Dead, Jeff Buckley (I don't know who the hell that is, but he did the theme for Deadzone), Johnny Lee Hooker, Maynard, Offspring, Rage (fuck you Audioslave!), Chili Peppers, Santa Esmeralda, Steve Miller Band, White Stripes, U2, and some Norah Jones and a capella to keep me mellow.

All I needs is a melody and a groove, and I'll listen to it. I'm a sucker for vocal harmony too. :)

Bah country is unappealing lyrically and musically as far as i go, the intricacies and profound stylings of overkill sentenced and nevermore are truely amazing. Hell Bruce Dickinson and Marty Friedman are astounding.

I didnt say I listened to made for radio punk, I suppose you think Sum 41, Blink 182, Good charlotte etc. are just as punk as you get too right? There are many types of punk, as there are many types of hardcore, and I stay away from the ska-ish, poppy, hey lets get a record deal and make alot of videos punk. You just cant get the same energy from going to see them as you would say goin to see throwdown in a small club and all 500 people are in one huge circle pit........Great stuff

English. Do you speak it motherfucker?

That shit isn't punk either. Infact, there's little that could ever be called punk without making punk seem like a shitty knockoff of grunge, and it's mostly because of shits like you who take the 'morals over music' approach to discover what they listen to.

Anyone can put out a record that people can mosh to, it takes talent to attatch a message to the record and act as a public symbol for whatever message that may be.

Go take your straightedge shit and go listen to some more Christian rock.
