Apparently this character was so new his name didn't register with the system yet...

I have a copy of the fame list 1-250 from about 3 years ago with everyone's player numbers. Pretty interesting.

I've seen that a couple times, mostly because I'm a compulsive profiler so I can highlight people by race. I'd always thought you get that because you send in a request for a profile and the system finds the character's number to look up, but they then log off before the information can be retrieved.
This is, of course, supposition. I don't know for sure.

I'd say that's a pretty darn good guess... I had clicked on the character's name in the Death's window, and I guess (s)he logged off right before I selected Profile. When I clicked on his/her name again, the system couldn't find them (aka, they'd logged off).
