So most people who know me know I am/was employed by wal mart.. pretty unhappily but it's one of the highest paying jobs in this crappy in-the-woods area. The other day the store manager got an email sent down to her with my name on it for manager trainee, I had to go in and click on a qualification question, then it would have been a phone interview, then off to train... I went in today to check on the status...Since they had 'just' moved me into a new department I would have to wait at least 5 and a half more months to be qualified, keep in mind I've been with them over a year now in one dept....but went to a different part of the store so it resets the qualification. To top off the fact I pretty much got denied a chance at moving up for at least 6 months they send me to the back to unload a truck because they are short handed.(the gm unloaders make more money so I was pretty much getting underpaid for this as well.) then they decide they need buggies pushed in from outside.. It's raining and no cashiers want to do it..oh and they're too cheap to hire a 2 to 11 buggy pusher... So I've spent pretty much 0 time in my dept at this point... I'm miserable, and getting wet. One of my moms friends see me in the parking lot and hires me doing refunds for companies for late shipments, making upwards of 30 dollars an hour vs my $8.10. I start training tomorrow, it's pretty much microsoft excel stuff. Granted this is no Kranar getting a job at google story (congrats btw) It was a very rewarding and ironicly timed experience. I can't say I'll miss pushing buggies, not being able to do 'my job' and scores of stupid people.
I also thought of a new wal mart slogan the other day.
"We make Dollars..not sense." I dunno if it's been used before or it just came as a pun but it's extremely fitting for them.

Your getting $30 an hour for doing what exactly?

Retail jobs suck nuts. I'm stuck in one right now until I finish school simply because they'll work around my schedule and I get benefits but the second i'm done with school I'm the hell out of there.
