a small silver case

The small, round case is formed of gleaming silver, strands. On one edge of the case, a tiny arrow sits atop a small stem. Surrounding the stem are various engravings. The arrow is currently pointing at the image of a Centaur profiled against a bright moon.

Scripted stopwatch.

>tap case
You gently tap on your case.
>tap case
A squeaky voice pipes out, "It's only been 1 seconds since you did that before -- lemme alone!
>open case
A tiny creature pops up from Jeeves's case and shouts, "It's nine fifteen Centaur Standard time! Now, lemme get some sleep!" With that, the bizarre critter disappears once more, snapping the lid shut behind itself.
>turn case
You turn the stem on your case so that the arrow points to a Myklian.
>turn case
You turn the stem on your case so that the arrow points to a Puma.
>turn case
You turn the stem on your case so that the arrow points to an Elf.
>turn case
You turn the stem on your case so that the arrow points to a Centaur.
>rub case
You gently rub your case until a sun shimmers into sight on the case where a moon once was.
>poke case
You push the small lever on your case.
A tiny, muffled voice pipes out, "It's Tilamaires, Olaesta 24!"

(different time zones, AM/PM and date)

I think it has a cute loresong with the miniature demon inside too. I think the watch is off by one hour but I have never assisted to have it fixed.

CURRENT BID: 20 million to Uhlume

Loresong:

The case is delicate and weighs very little... probably less than a pound, in fact. You notice a strange rhythmic pulsation within the lovely object.

The case is indeed vibrating and now you are just barely able to discern a tiny chittering sound escaping from the case every so often. Surely, some life form has taken up residence within.

Odd images rush through your mind as the song continues. You envision a faraway land where strange and exotic creatures roam. The place vibrates to some sort of rhythmic pulsing. Each creature you see seems to move in time to the beat.

As you sing, the vibration from within the case gets stronger with each note. Finally, the cover of a small silver case flies open and a tiny creature leaps up to sing,

Ooooh-da-laaaaaaaay, Oooooh-da-liiiiiiight!
Happy Daaaaaaaaaaay, Happy Niiiiiiiiiiight!

*tap* *tap* *tap* The little creature bangs on the edge of his case.

Bless my stars, you're an ugly sight!

With that, the creature sneers mightily at one and all and slams the lid shut after himself.

It's a cool item for sure... I really would like it but... holy crap! 20M? I think I'll just buy a real watch for the $250...

I'm down with the free clock in the lower right hand part of my screen. Or hell, typing "time" in game.

Amen, damn a 20 mill pocket watch? I sold an orb with a ghost in it for a mill. Granted, it couldn't tell time, but really, type time, look at a clock, for that sake look up at the sky and same some money. 20 mill...

I still can't get over that.

Rins.

For 20 mill i'll tell you the time, anytime you ask, but if you poke me, I'll kill you.

20 million?

On a side note, I'm surprised a guy named Rinswynd doesn't like the watch considering its a lot like the pocket organizer from "Feet of Clay" by Terry Pratchett, another Discworld novel. It would be neat if someone who owned the recently released "luggage" rip-off also owned the pocketwatch.

Fuck you he'll come back. Jesus.

Okay, just as a reminder, it's considered good form to actually READ a comment before responding to it. NOWHERE in my post did I say I didn't like the damn watch. In fact, if it were say, 3mill? No, maybe 1.5-2. Then yeah, hell yeah I'd bid. But 20 mill....?

I still think you're crazy.

Rins.

Mind you, I also know that you're not the only nutcase in GS, so you probably have a good chance of getting 20 mill.

Now quit pickin on the rogue, buddy!

It was a good natured comment and not a dig.

I don't see whats so crazy about ACCEPTING a bid. I think its actually pretty darn sane on my part.

That being said...

Current bid: 20 million to Uhlume going TWICE!

That's a really expensive version of the time verb.

Well you could say that with most items. Just a neat toy. And really old.

For those of you that seem to care, this was the last of the 'really cool items' I wanted when I first started playing. I've emailed Jay for ~11 years about buying this item, so 20m is nothing at all. Its finally mine finally and thats what matters.

Uhlume

Congrats on that. I kinda ( really ) want his champagne bottle, but alas, I've bigger things to concentrate on.
