I read the paper everyday and I enjoy a few of the cartoons. (Dilbert being my favorite) but I always skip over Prince Valiant.
That has to be the shittiest strip in the paper every week.. who the fuck reads that crap and why is it hogging up my fish wrap?

Cleats is good.
I subscribed to it for my football club website for a while.

I haven't even seen a prince valiant in years, thought they cancelled that lame shit.
I couldn't stand that one or the one that depicted stories from the bible... it's like, fuck off! I want to laugh, not receive a weekly 3" x 15" spiritual enlightenment
Calvin and Hobbes and Zits are my favorites, though I usually enjoy all of them. For some reason, despite working in an office, I just don't connect with Dilbert...

I can't believe people actually read Prince Valiant. But then again, I thought the same thing about the Family Circus, and when they stopped printing it, I was shocked at the outrage.
My favorite is the Boondocks, Calvin and Hobbes (esp the philosophical debates as they go careening down the hill), and Get Fuzzy.

Far side was my favorite back in the day.
Calvin & Hobbes is my all time favorite - I wish Watterson still printed new ones.
Others I liked:
Far Side
Dilbert
B.C. (author just recently passed away)
Family Circus
Doonsbury
Bill the Cat and Opus
Peanuts
Crankshaft
When I was younger I also liked:
Heathcliff
Marmanduke
Garfield
Broomhilda
And I remember Prince Valliant as far back as 1977. There was also another strip called Apartment 214??? that was just as soap opera'ish.

I just don't see the humor in something like this. Maybe old people like it more:

You have to have dealt with really small kids to relate to it... the first few thousand "look how cute these little kids are being" was funny, the million that followed got old quick... I do still chuckle sometimes though

Bloom County was the best strip ever written.

Ah newspaper comics... I F'n love em. Calvin, Get Fuzzy, Pearls before swine, Sherman's Lagoon, Pooch Cafe, Bloom County, all awesome. I've attempted to read Prince Valiant just for the hell of it... not that terrible, certainly better than BC or Garfield... or Spiderman, what the fuck, newspaper spiderman blows ass, it takes a week for him to deliver a punch, and he's always whining about his wife.
Oh, boondocks is good, when he wasn't on sabatical... Dilbert has it's momments, but it's a little to cliche.
Anyway, I couldn't stay out of a comic thread..

Seriously I've never made it thru a prince valiant strip. I don't even know what it's about.
Dilbert definitely cliche. But isn't that the point of nailing a niche?
Boondocks awesome. Pearls before swing awesome. Back in the day Calvin awesome. I miss Calvin.. if there was a list I"m sure Calvin would be top five somewhere.

It's definatly not easy to pick up, I made a real effort to give it a chance, because of the genre... it just moves too slow. I've been "following" it since 2/6/2005, and they're just starting up their third little storyline within the same huge storyline (IE Val is lost outside his homeland is the big storyline, and year '05 he saves one group of people, year '06 he is captured by another group of people)
Foxtrot
Oh yeah... nearly forgot, loved Foxtrot... hate that he's doing only Sundays. His sunday strips aren't nearly as good as the dailys, although I do enjoy the D&D or WoW references.
Opus too... Opus is good but I figure bloom county covered that.

Speaking of D&D references, I still love Order of the Stick, though it's only a web comic.

I've never even heard of Prince Valiant.. it must suck.
My faves are Boondocks, Mutts, & Zits. Family Circus and Marmaduke need to get canned.

Prince Valiant does suck but so does your attention level probably. It's usualllllly the last comic in the funnies... you just never made it that far. HEHEHEH.
Best part of Family Circus is that Pearls before swine fucks with them in their strip.

As I already mentioned I tried reading it once, the only reason I was able to get into it was because I saved a bunch and read a couple months at a time... it's too slow paced once a week.

Heh, I love those ones, I also like when PBS and Get Fuzzy make fun of each other, because they'll actually respond to each other.

The Family Circus only becomes awesome when you subsitute in H.P. Lovcraft or Nietzche quotes in the speech bubbles. Then it is comedy gold.

Yeah, those aren't even my favorites, just a few I found quickly jumping to random comics. I was afraid a lot of them were too geeky for the audience here, but glad to see there's another who enjoys them.

Peanuts
Broomhilda
Beetle Bailey
Hagar the Horrible
I used to like 9 Chickweed Lane but somehwere along the way it lost the funny. Now it's hard to even figure out. Comics shouldn't be difficult to decipher.
