Playing on the Pegasus server. Had a level 13 but restarted after going crazy on his training. Now at level 7 with a strict training plan that's worth keeping even after I clone at level 15. So far I've only done weapons training, no machine guns, with 1 reflective armor. Will work on rage after level 5 guns.

It's not so bad with the teleport zones. Only sucks when bases get taken over by the enemy. Then you have to make your way over to that base to retake it. The game still needs work and the limited amount of points to distribute for skills makes it kinda... limited. Fortunately, I'll be busy with Assassins Creed and most likely COD4. Hopefully both games will improve over time.

COD4 is amazing. I was on the beta test for the Multi-Player portion for the last 3 months and couldn't put it down. We only had 3 maps to play in the beta, but it NEVER got old. Now that it's out, everyone on my friends list is always playing it. I'm personally waiting until I get all my interviewing and finals out of the way (Going to be a December graduate), but I imagine over Christmas I'll be spending quite a bit of time between COD4, Assassin's Creed, and Snowboarding.

I really didn't like how they pretty much gave the whole story away in the first few minutes. I also think the voice actor for the main character is absolutely horrible.
It also sucks when you're running away from guards on rooftops, attempt to leap from one roof to the other, only to aim towards the wrong roof and end up splatting face first into a wall and falling to your death.

I've killed the first 2 people on the list and I'm on the third. Only played for a couple hours last night, but the farther you get the cooler stuff you can do. I really like the Spiderman-like wall/roof crawling shit, but then again I'm easily entertained. The more combat skills you get the cooler your fighting looks and the more you pwn face.
I don't care what IGN says, the game is fun. And the graphics look sick as hell sometimes.

Even if it doesn't say that, its a pretty bad review. I suppose thats because most are used to games getting 8.5/10 at a min, this one got a 7.7, which actually means Good.
Skeeter
11-15-2007, 10:38 AM
I read that review, while it says it doesn't live up to it's hype (what could) nowhere does it say it's the most disappointing game of the year.
I tend to trust Gamespot. They haven't let me down yet with any of their editors choices, which this attained.
And to be honest, I couldn't really care less if it's not perfect. Tenchu wasn't either.
But it's a gaming style I know I enjoy and this game definately takes that style to a whole, completely staggering new level.
Gelston
11-15-2007, 10:41 AM
I'd say this sort of leads to saying that without saying it...
Assassin's Creed could easily have been one of the best games of 2007. It is, without question, impressive on several fronts. But developer Ubisoft Montreal took some missteps along the way and squandered the immense potential of its pseudo-stealth action title. A bad story, repetitive gameplay elements, and poor AI lead to the downfall of one of the more promising games in recent memory. Assassin's Creed could have been one of the great games of this generation. Instead, it turned into just another action title.
But no, it doesn't blatently say most disappointing.

I'm loving this game. At first, I wasn't too sure how I felt about AC since I was getting my ass kicked on multi opponent fights and had to resort to running away. I wasn't use to the climbs and jumps, going splat in the middle of the road. After taking a break, it got much easier. I'm hopping beams and rooftops like a pro. I faced 6 man ambushes, killing them one by one even before I regained my ability to counter. I still have to work on my assassination skill. I'm usually detected long before I'm close enough to pulling one off successfully. Almost got a thug last night, but ended up stabbing a pedestrian in her throat at the very last second. I felt bad about that.
Drew2
11-15-2007, 11:56 AM
LOL You just gotta wait to enter combat until you're like right up in his face then enter combat and STABSTAB in like the same motion. It's very satisfying to do that right in their face. My favorite is the counter-kills though. Especially with the short blade. I love stabbing their foot and then slitting their neck in one graceful motion.

Not so fun for that guy who broke his leg earlier.
Not talking a bout a high dive, but a roof close to my target, leap and done. I think someone did something similar on a youtube vid, making the leap off one of the wooden beams and pulling a landing kill on one of the fleeing thugs. Shouldn't be too hard against a stationary target.

I've been looking for it since 10. The closest one I get to is one of the devs showing different ways to come at their target. I thought it was that one, but he hits the floor before getting his target from behind. It's been several months since I seen that vid, so I may have been mistaken. In any case, I'll find out how many ways I can kill a knight soon enough.

I redid memory block 2 because I pretty much rushed through the mission to Damascus. This time I made sure to go to all the towers and complete all the other tasks with the exception of flags. Even Halo wasn't this immersive and good. I'm just trying to finish it before Monday so I can get stuff done this week.

You can do up to 6 intelligence gatherings.
What I really wish they had was some kind of journal system, so that when I zone out during the mission briefings, I'm not just entirely lost.
edit: There's also some bugs in the engagement system...locking onto any target and going near the thugs will start the Save The Citizen events...which is really annoying when you're trying to pickpocket or interrogate someone.

Yeah I do all 6. But either way you've got to do 3-6. I've basically been clearing out every sector of viewpoints and save the citizens and then doing my intelligence, that way if the city guard starts chasing after you you have a bunch of vigilantes to help out. It's too bad the rooftop guards you assassinate come back when you start the main assassination mission. I generally plan my route from the guild to the assassination point and then clear the general path there of guards to make my return easier.

Gonna head to Jerusalem tonight after a much needed break. I'm still loving this game though I can see it getting a bit repetitive doing the same tasks. Still plenty fun and I've gotten alot better with assassinations, killing an archer who's too slow in dropping his bow.

I'm still digging the game. It does get repetitive, though. It kind of reminds me of the recent Spiderman games where you have to save a bunch of people to advance the game.
I'm also not that big of a fan of how guards on the road decide to kill you if they see your horse moving at anything faster than a canter.
And I still don't get how people on the streets don't second-guess seeing someone jump from the top of a church or tower into a wheelbarrow of hay.

Triangle:

Also the numbers on the triangle one.. 12212012.. The game takes place in the year 2012 and supposedly there is some weird thing the Mayans predicted that the world end on December 12th, 2012.. So that has something to do with it too according to the emails.
Oh also in the bedroom there is even more shit written on the wall.. There is this weird looking figure on the wall looks like a butterfly or whatever.. Has something to do with some crazy advanced mathematical Lorentz figure or some shit.
It's a huge cliffhanger and totally sets up for the other games.. The creator has said that it is a TRILOGY and this is just the beginning.

I didn't save every citizen, but it can be helpful to save all the ones around the bureaus and assassination targets. The sweet thing about this game is that you can play it however you want and still probably do well.
My favorite move was throwing guards into walls and then wrist blading them when they're down.

Leave it to Tsin to be a total fucking douchebag and ruin the ending for anyone that reads this thread. Several of us beat it before you and didn't give away anything other than "The ending is hard". Your stupidity grows exponentially every day, doesn't it?
Looked as if he did it on purpose as well.

The ending's kind of sweet if you put some work into it, but it sucks in that there's no closure at all.
It's planned to be a trilogy, which is good, because the next game can get rid of the things that were wrong with this game, of which there weren't many. Just some repetition and the easy combat system.
My favorite part of the game is just free-running on the rooftops. If it weren't for those damn archers... it would be nice if there was a sandbox type city, with no guards or templars at all.
The game was made by the same people who made the Prince of Persia games the previous generation, and it's easy to tell. I'm really hoping they take the same engine and apply it to a next-gen Prince of Persia game. Sands of Time is easily in my top 5 list of games from last gen.

The PS3 and AC released firmware 2.01 for the game! No more freezing for me!

I agree with this. I've heard a lot of people carefully plan out assassinations and such, but I just kinda winged it and then while running away on the rooftops, pretended I was playing PoP to get away.

Lol, I only pulled off one "stealth" assassination the entire game just to earn the Acheivement. Other than that I was just all SLASHHACKSLASHKILL.

Now that I beat the game, I'm just strolling through town, making a huge pile of dead guards. Starting to get use to aerial assassinations. Pulled off several from the roof of the smaller buildings and some beams right above the walkways. Just hold on to the R trigger then the assassination option pops up. If they see you coming, the will stop you mid dive and push you back. Also want to note that aerial kill on civilians gave no penalty at all. I'm about to revisit those retards. Also pulled off some hidden blade counters, but it's pretty hard with nothing to defend yourself with. My timing gets off when I get hit and they end up hitting me 4 or 5 times in a row. Gotta work that timing.

Yeah, I use hidden blade counters usually for the last guard left.

Just picked this game up yesterday and it rocks.
But is it just me, or does the little loading icon in Assassin's Creed look goatse inspired?
