Revalos

Over in the Roleplaying thread I mentioned the fact that I found something odd when the treasure digging game was in Solhaven over the past weekend. It was "a rusty steel shard." At first, I thought it was just junk like the majority of the usual stuff you pull out of the ground while digging, but I was curious when it appraised for 12k at the pawnshop, so I had it sung to and found out it was one of a set of disk altering magical items that have been released.
Apparently there is a painting, a dragon figurine, a scarf, a toy looking like a sheep and something else to deal with a spider that create a unique looking disk when raised. They were given out as a contest prize and a raffle at EG 2005. They are all different.
So I finally decided to test the thing out, here's what it looks like when you activate it with a disk...
You raise a rusty steel shard overhead. A faint, unpleasant hum begins to emanate from the shard, and an aura of dark red light glows around it before lashing out to strike your disk. With a sound like a steel golem clambering back to its feet, hundreds of rusty blades grow from the sides of the disk. The light fades away, but the hum remains, coming now from the disk.
The disk now appears in the room as "the blade-edged Revalos disk"
When you LOOK at it:
Dull, rust-covered black blades project from the disk's sides in chaotic profusion. As it hovers, it spins slowly in midair, and a high, faint whine like the drone of a mosquito emanates from it. The blade-edged Revalos disk is hovering in mid-air around you.
If you do it again after it has changed or without a disk:
You raise a rusty steel shard overhead. A faint, unpleasant hum begins to emanate from the shard, and an aura of dark red light glows around it. After a moment, both the hum and the light fade away.
The only downside appears to be that they are difficult to recharge, but I'm quite happy with finding it.
So...Gems go out to the designer of the treasure digging game, GM Scribes or whomever decided to randomly show up in Solhaven on Sunday, and to whomever designed a wonderful little magic trick and got it out to us players who love little things like this.
