how does ambushing and voln fu work together?

Can you use Voln-fu while ambushing?

I'm returning to the game after many years away, and starting fresh. I'm thinking about making a brawling ranger, but does Voln-Fu work well with ambushing or are they somewhat anathema to each other?

No, you can't use them together.

They're totally different systems and attack types. Ambush is always going to yield a regular melee attack.
