I have a question about armor and armor ranks
I have an empath that wears casting leathers and at this point I am not interested in upgrading her to brig, however I am wondering if I have her wear any miscellaneous armor that covers the neck, head or legs would I need additional armor ranks and if so how many. Also would any additional miscellaneous armor be of any benefit
Thanks for the assist:club:

By adding accessories you are effectively bumping up the AsG of your armour. So yes, you need additional armour ranks to train off the RT/Hindrances.

Unless you have some specifically padded misc armour, no it isn't worth it.

StrayRogue is correct, adding accessories (head armor specifically) would bump you up to doubles hinderance. However, empath, MnS, and MjS all have 0% hinderance in double leathers anyway, even with 0 ranks in armor (at least this is how I'm reading the tables). That said, you'd probably want the 8 ranks required to remove the maneuver penalties. I'd say it is definitely worth it, if you have good misc armor. Otherwise, just buy some actual double leathers, because you'll get better CvA, and less overall weight.

*Edit: Having miscellaneous armor on parts of the body already covered by the armor (arms, in the case of casting leathers [full leathers, im guessing]) has no effect unless the misc armor is padded and the armor is not.
