Voln help

Not really a specific thread for requesting help with in game puzzles, etc. So I figured here's as good a place as any.

Working on voln in Vaalor and I'm on the task for step 16 (Oleani). I've made it to the vine covered altar and placed an engagement band and an engagement ring, both purchased at the gem shop, on the altar... and showed the altar respect by bowing, standing and kneeling... all to no avail.

Anyone here working on voln in Vaalor that knows what I'm doing wrong? (Yes, I've consulted the Arkati voln guide for dummies - its no help :( )

Did you try items from the jewelers rather than the gemshop resales?

These rings were bought at the jeweler on the north side of town. I'll try the Jewelery Store on the se part of town.

Update:

Using items from the correct shop makes a huge difference.
