What's the deal with this? I seem to recall it having a bit of a delay moving from room to room (so you're not instantly protected like a travel guide room-to-room sanctuary), and is there something where monsters higher level than you can break it?
Effectively how well could a level 11 Bard safely transverse area's well above his head? (I would think that if the song couldn't "catch up" before I could move out of the room, then there is no point)

It does have a delay moving with you but the only thing that can break it should be the specific sanct breaking creatures.

In some hunting areas, the sanct effects can wear off without creatures

Same thing with Song of noise. It takes a few seconds for the spell's effects to catch up with you. One of the drawbacks to having a sanctuary which follows you around.

Don't quote me as it's been a while since I've dragged out a Bard, but if you're in it deep, I think you can renew it at cost immediately.

Yea if your in danger of getting whallaped fast you can just keep renewing it the second you enter the room but your likely to run outa mana at level 11 doing that.

Still cheaper than a cleric/empath moving room to room... especially if I peer and then move/renew if I see there are monsters in the room.
I'm not 100% I'm going to go this route but the idea would be to just create the bot for mapping, if he dies I'd just have him depart confirm, and get back up and head back out... (although now that I think about it, under 10 doesn't have a penalty for dieing does it?... 9th level maybe rogue for the 3x perception... 2x climb/swim)

Or... if you're willing to move verrry slowly... time your moves so that you enter the new room a moment before the renew. It's the Poorbards method. ;-)
