I was thinking about droping Hiding and shooting from the open.
Is this a bad move even though I can spell my DS and TD up a bit?

Tons of rangers do that, especially older ones.

I would suggest getting into heavier armor(torso chain/aug breastplate), maxing out Dodge, and maybe bulking up redux skills.

Yes, if you are untrained for your armor it might.

However if you're dead because you're wearing paper armor, can't dodge and have no redux.. <shrug>
