Say you and a friend went to McD's and you bought him dinner (being the good friend you are). And lets say that friend pulled the Instant Winner $1,000,000 prize for the Monopoly game they got going on. Who's money is it? What would you do?
What if the roles were reversed? Does your view on the situation change?
Just wondering what peoples answers will be :)

You split it, duh. Or, if he refuses, you split his face.
Split it. If I was the one who won, anyway.

He bought, he wins the mil, he gives you a 100k cut.
If he won't split it straight into 50/50 , steal his meal!

I believe Larry David made a terrible movie about just this situation...well almost. A friend gives another guy 50 cents to play a slot machine and he wins the jackpot. Also in the movie, testicles are removed.
It's called "Sour Grapes."

I would hope they would split the winnings. If the roles were reversed and my friend bought me the food I would split with them. I would probably split or at least give portions to my friends since usually they help me out.

Eh, I don't honestly know.
I'd probably congrats him and ask if he wanted to give me a cut.
If I won, I'd probably split it.

I would probably split it.
$500k ($350k after taxes) is a decent chunk of change.

Split it. As a matter of fact, on Saturday I went out and bought McD's for four of us who were stuck working that day. They all gave me their stickers. I was ready to accept that if I won anything I would split with them. $250,000 is still a nice hunk of change. :)
If I bought dinner I would sucker punch my friend take the ticket and cash it. Hell I bought the dinner I would prefer to argue over who owns the money when I have the 500k in my pocket. If my friend was gracious and conceded it was my cash I may buy him/her another dinner at McD's.

As I see it, the dinner I bought for my friend was a gift. Once given, the gift belongs to him/her. Therefore, the decision as to what to do with the winnings belongs to him/her.
Reverse the situation and I'd split the winnings with my friend.

He won it's his money, I would hope he paid me back for the value meal at the very least. 50/50 would probably be the way to go though.

A gift is just that so I wouldn't have any real claim to any share of the winnings. But if they are really a friend you know you'd be getting a nice little chunk. If the roles were reversed I'd take care of my friend.

If I bought it, I'd give the friend a 100k cut.
Which is a lot less painful in Canada, cause no taxes are placed on money that is won.. so if you ever win, totally go to canada, and pretend you won it there. I'm sure it's illegal, but who's gonna catch you? Mwa hahaha.
Oh, and if I didn't buy it, I'd run like fucking crazy.
