Hi! I was just wandering... how would win98SE run in latest-tech machines (talk about dual core CPUs)? I mean will it run at all? I always liked win98SE rather than XP or Vista, but never tried it on anything faster than a P3 500mhz...
If it wouldnt work at all... then which would be the fastest hardware on which you could use Win98SE?

I ran mine on Pentium 4s as a dual boot with XP. So I am pretty sure it would run on a dual core machine. I know for sure it will run on a P4 though.

Why would you want to?

Because Win98 is tweakable and runs with a DOS background.

Nothing outright stopping the OS from running on these machines, dual chip machines could run under 98 so I don't see why dual core would be a problem. A particular motherboard might not be supported due to driver issues, 98 is currently unsupported not not receiving service packs/driver updates.

It's extremely simple to set up dual boot, so you could have a Win98 boot that if suddenly you come across some application that doesn't work you could switch to an XP boot and do whatever work you needed to do, and then go back to the Win98. You could also set up VMs, but if it's performance reasons you want 98 that wouldn't be so great.
