I took my 4 year old son to his first professional baseball game today. It was sunny/partly cloudy with the temperatures in the mid 70's. The top was open on Minute Maid park and the Astros were playing the Brewers. Even though the Brewers won we had a blast. We spent time in the memorabilia shop spending a shit load of cash on hat, pennant, bat, ball, flag, and other assorted Astros gear. We stood with our hats off and sang the national anthem, bought hotdogs, cotton candy, peanuts, and soft drinks; and stood again in the 7th inning stretch and sang 'take me out to the ballgame'. We saw lots of pop flys and foul balls and even a home run and asked lots of questions about what the players were doing on the field.

I hope this is the start of a yearly tradition in going to baseball games with my son. It was a blast.

If this is what being a parent is all about, then I'm definately glad I'm lucky enough to be one.

Considering the odds, I'll take the bet.

Some of the best times I had with my Dad as a kid were at baseball games. Sounds awesome.

I think it dawned on me because Hulk is such a huge Philly sports fan and cosmic irony suggests his son will have to be gay.

Then...

They turn 15 and the 1:30 am calls from the police.

I miss my kids being young. But now I can't wait till they leave.

Took my almost 5 (May 21st) daughter to like her 30th game last night.

On saturdays they get to run the bases in a race of sorts with the other kids.. she trucked a boy her size between 3rd and home and he ate dirt hard. 100 some odd parents gave an OOHHHHH in unison. Employees running out to his assistance whilst she just kept stride and barely looked over her shoulder.

She told me last night she didn't stop to help because she wanted to win. This morning she admitted she pushed him because she wanted to win.

Rubbin' is racing as Ricky Bobby would say.

You have raised your daughter well. If your not first....your last

There is NOTHING respectful about invoking the image of Rosie w/ respect to another man's daughter.

Not that I'm too proud of being a Yankee fan right now, and the fact that Yankee stadium is going to close soon....But I can't wait for the day I take my kid to their first Yankee game. Congrats.

Hey now... not all butch lesbians are in the same "ballpark" as Rosie when it comes to looks or just about anything. Ugh.

See Ellen for reference.

Sounds like alot of fun Gan. You can't beat a day at the ballpark with your son/daughter.
