Character Names.

There is a new character that resulted from the Name purging. A phoenix has emerged from the ashes. ( Pun intended) Yes. There is a phoenix walking around.. an Aeletoi I think... or you could say flying around. not that aeletoi can fly.

However that being said. What are your opinions regarding names that bestow some sort of title? For example: Phoenix. I spoke to a GM and they are actually still debating about it. Simply because Phoenix is not a GEMSTONE realm title.. it may be related to the rising phoenix house by name, but I have not spoken to a member or official on what they think or what they will put into action as a result of this new character... It will definitely affect the house itself if this phoenix character joins COL. ( please read the mythology of the phoenix for references to this entity )

Bear in mind the phoenix is not an entity that has originated from gemstone history. It is an outside name.. that is why it's debatable.

Do you think names such as this should be allowed? If not, why should others with names that bestow an outside title (such as phoenix ) to their character be allowed to exist?


p.s And no. The Edine is not a title title in my book. He can keep the female name for all I care. :lol:

Any title is dumb. Any name that isn't good is dumb.

Examples: Marbles, Warclaidhm.

I see nothing wrong with the name. If you pitch that, you'd have to pitch a lot of em. What I'd like to see, however, is a change name feature. As little as I generally agree with TOJ, I agree with him on that.

A change name feature can be easily abused, unless it is moderated by a non biased GM. Also, the fact that as you level or age.. In the long run, you establish a reputation.. good or bad. In the real world.. yes we can change our names, but usually when people do that.. They leave their old life behind. I think it is a different and a much harder transition for someone in gemstone to leave their old life behind. Otherwise, you wouldn't have all these people multi-accounting just to kill a certain individual etc.

How would it be abused? Their files would stay the same for GM enforcement purpouses. You'd have to do it over the phone with billing.

I thought you mean't IN-Game feature, hence my comment that unless it was moderated by a gm.

If they have to pay for it.. I don't think people would be volunteering to change their name. Now if it's Mandatory?

Easily abusable: Change name to, say, Warclaidhn. Piss lots of people off. Change name back to Bobmuhthol.
