So once again, while stopped at a red light, somone thinks it's a great idea to hit me. I guess he had just woke up and thought I let off my gas to go (even though the car in front of me wasn't moving, or me) and rearended me.. making my head snap forward and back and neck pain galore. Went to the hospital and I have a sprained neck, and apparently it's going to hurt a lot worse tommorow (oh joy). I've not yet dealt with an accident where I've been injured in, so any recommendations on if I should get a lawyer? Wait to see if my neck gets better or worse? I HATED dealing with the insurance company with the last accident and I'm always afraid I'm getting get screwed. I'm not going to sign anything. I have the worst luck :(

First, don't sign a thing.
If you have a general practitioner that your family or friends have used I'd consult them and maybe get them on retainer. It's pretty obvious you could have a recovery and the other driver's insurance would be retarded not to settle for your medical costs. It's a matter of whether you're fine with medical costs or you want more. But like I said -- I'd consult a non-ambulance chaser.

Ouch, might look into seeing if they have package deals if drivers are going to make a habbit of using your car for stopping. ;(

Motion carried...
Best thing I did was see my doc the next day. Came in handy when the paperwork started rolling in later.
As for the signing, it really depends on the severity of the accident. In your case, because its a neck issue you really cant tell if it will have any effect on you later once the pain/stiffness go away. When you sign something you are signing away your ability to have the person cover additional medical costs if its necissary.
