Discovery Channel, in association with BBC, is currently running its series Planet Earth (http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/planet-earth/planet-earth.html). Very content heavy site.

Phenomenal. Its in HD so catch it on your big screen on DSC-HD channel if you can, but its still unbelievable on regular cable DSC.

Seriously, do not be turned off if you don’t have HD. The techniques they have developed to shoot are first rate. Cutting edge. If you are a fan of wildlife documentaries I guarantee you that you will be floored by scenes in each episode.

The sea-lion on penguin brutality, as well as some predator on young brutality is... well, brutal. Its part of the cycle of life but there is much more amazement these people have given us to behold about the mysteries of the world we live in.

Hard too pick a favorite scene out of so many.

The fox burying seagull eggs, then brutally stealing a seagull chick... only to find its just feeding its own cubs with it.

The Tibetan fox with the somber face devouring poor picachus.

A pack of lions taking down an elephant.

Bacteria developed enough to pwn each individual type of insect.

The pitcher plant.

You should see the show Expedition to Borneo, if you can get it with TiVo or something. It's awesome.

Planet Earth rules. Almost makes me tear up a bit when I think how global warming will have destroyed it all twenty-five years from now.

I made sure to buy the original BBC DVD's narrated by David Attenborough, and not the US versions narrated by Sigourney Zuul. I don't know if she's as bored as she sounds while she's reading off the script they handed her, but they probably could have done a better casting job.

And some of the camera angles in the Planet Earth series are unbelieveable.

In the same vein as Planet Earth, the Discovery channel also has their Discovery Atlas series which is simply amazing. I'm not sure when the next wave of episodes is coming, but the episodes they've had so far (China, Brazil, Italy, Australia) have been fantastic.

The channel's been putting some really good stuff out ever since they starting porting most of their shit shows to the Learning Channel. Once they get rid of Cash Cab and Stunt Junkies, it'll be even better.

Yeah, some of the stuff they show may not be suitable for kids. There are no warnings that I recall.
