I had my stupid moment, and yeah, i was a pain in the butt too, but who never did that..
I killed him 3 times i think, with silthar. I lied to him just to kill him, and yeah it was not that brillant but it was a way to get that little laugh against him, seeing him to be so pissed and etc...
What can be done with Warclaidhm, seriously, I know i never speak to him with my new character, and that almost everyone here must do so, because it's a ticket to the hell of annoying one-way...
But what can we do for him, man, he cannot be that pig headed (french expression? strong headed? hard headed?)
Could we raise a fund to get him cool stuff so he'll behave like normal ? (???)
Is Warclaidhm the archetype (sp) of the new players that will keep on coming later when Simu will get agressive with their adds?
Bob told me that Warclaidhm's owner was 12, which i agree, will only time heal that big red pimple named Warclaidhm Gemstone has ?
We all played stupid once, but hey, we live to not repeat stupid mistakes..?
p.s. my english is terrible, but so is your french, remember that! ;)

If we are going to Warclaidhm bash, I guess I should join in. I normally avoided him so I didn't really have contact with him, but about 3 weeks ago, I went to the boulder not really to duel but just because. Anyway, as soon as I got there, he leaps out of hiding with his claid and tries to kill me. Now my sorcerer isn't as old as him so I took like 4 implodes to kill him after that. Then he bitched to me on why I didn't stop after the first implode. He swings a claid at me, and if I hadn't been in defensive, he probably would have killed me. I didn't even ask him to duel or even talk to him, but he TRIES to kill me for no reason and then bitches when I killed him....
Warclaidhm you suck, start a new character.

You hear the subdued thoughts of Warclaidhm echo in your mind: "Where is this invasion at?"
You hear the subdued thoughts of Warclaidhm echo in your mind:
"Has anyone found " a war mattock"? its 4x enchanted. You'll see an enchanters mark if you pick it up. That's the whole description, if you found it I'd like it back, but I dont *need* it back."
You hear the subdued thoughts of Warclaidhm echo in your mind:
"Lost it in the invasion"

Warclaidhm asks, "Where is the exchange booth located?"
Domburr says, "Same place it's been for years."
Warclaidhm asks, "Where is that?"
Picklok asks, "and that is?"
Domburr says, "And its in the same spot it was last time you came from another town."
That was funny, he then pointed at Domburr, laughed then nodded to Picklok like Domburr was the idiot. Then they both walked off only to arrive 10 seconds later still lost.
This was in WL the small park.

Heh yeah someone who's been around that long should at least have the common sense to look at one of Tsoran's maps. I remember when I started playing GS back in '97. As a newbie, I'd wander around constantly asking people for directions. FINALLY one day someone told me where I wanted to go, but whispered to me www.tsoran.com. Boy did that make life easier LOL.

Warmattockm! And he will swing such: a mattockm. I almost sold him a claidhmorem, but he finally realized I was making fun of him.
By the by, his bit about "My name wouldn't fit as Warclaidhmore" is a complete fallacy. Peaceclaidhm = 12 characters. Warclaidhm = 10 characters. That's an argument even without the fact that Warclaidhmore is the stupidest damn name ever.

Warclaidhm is actually his second attempt. His first incarnation, Vorthais, was about a hundred times worse. Which is surprising, because one might be inclined to believe it couldn't get any worse. Just ask the Mentors about how obsessed he was with ringing the doorbell. They all remember Vorthais.
I agree, though, that it might be in his best interest to start fresh again.

Fawkyou, you have been moved to another room so that you can pick an appropriate name for your character. Your character information and inventory has been saved. Once you have renamed your character to a more appropriate name, you will be returned to the game with your character and inventory intact. To proceed, type RENAME and follow the instructions you are given.

I know many try to help anyone they see, but I don't subscribe to that.
If my character really doesn't like you, I most likely will just walk on by.
Of course, you pretty much have to be a total jerk for me to place you in the disliked category but once you're there it's hard to get taken off.
Well as a PS I guess I should add that those who roleplay "evil" personas may also get walked by. It's not a personal thing and the well roleplayed "evil" characters get my deepest respect, but it makes no sense for me to aid those I am so opposed to. I understand that some may take it personally but it truly is not intended that way. In the same way I do not expect aid from those who are opposed to me and my beliefs.
I have decayed before and I'm sure will again but I also am cautious and so do not die all that often when none of my friends are around to help me. Common sense there, don't be a daredevil when there is not much aid to be found.

I love it when double standards rear their ugly heads. You, Bob, were the one who expressed your desire to kill her simply because of her name. How would YOU even know her name without proper introduction? Assuming you did learn her name, how would you understand anything about it at all?
Her passing by your dead corpse is no worse than your OOC actions (or in this case, at least near-actions).

Vigilante, what the hell were you trying to prove? Yes. I want to thump her for having a stupid name. No, she can't dislike someone she's never heard of, seen, or talked to. There's no roleplaying involved. It's impossible to know me without knowing me.

People talk. People hate you. People who hate you talk. People who don't know you know people who hate you who talk. Therefore people who never met you hate you.
I don't know about you, but if I started playing Gemstone 1 week ago, I wouldn't rescue Warclaidhm just from listening to him and everyone else talking about hating him.....

He's dead.
Personally I do this weird thing called reserving judgment. I will take into consideration what my friends and other people say about a person but I won't automatically hate someone because they do.
1) I wait for a first impression and then I make a decision.
2) After a few interactions I can generally gauge where in which direction this person will go from the first impression (hold true to impression, get worse, get better)
3) Hate is too strong a word. I rarely use the word hate to describe my feelings towards a person, I might hate a particular thing a person does but I generally won't hate all that is the individual. If I hate someone I hate them all the way to the point that I wish ill upon them and 10 people that look like them.
I really feel bad for you all if you are so easily swayed by what other people think. Step back from any given situation, take the trusted opinions of your friends, weigh them accordingly and then use your own input and experience to pass judgement. Hell I know that 80% of the time if my best friend dislikes someone I will too but I still give everyone that chance to be part of the 20% and when, most of the time, they turn out to be part of the 80% I tell my friend yup you were right on that one.

Let's try this slower this time. You stated you thought about killing her because of her name (not thumping) but you couldn't remember why you didn't. When someone walks out of the alley, your character knows *nothing* about them, and that includes their name. Sure you the player can see their name, but if your character plays like he knows her name he is just a fool. If he thumps her or kills her for the same reason, he's more than a fool he's an asshole and needs to be locked out/banned.
So then you accuse her of acting on OOC information?
All I see from you, Bob, is consistent hypocrisy and double standards. You say she can't dislike someone she's never heard or seen. If those are your rules, why can't you follow them?
Really, this is so obvious it's amazing you cannot comprehend it.

Some of these 'dead' people she's refused to help, have come back n' kilt her. I dun agree with that, being she's only sticking up for her kin. Her oath havin' been that she wun raise any killers of her kin. Bob.. get over it.. folks have heard of yer RP or lack of RP n' prolly that person heard you makin' fun of them. That is one flaw I will freely admit to. I dont care what race you are I will always stop and LK, throw a thought out on a net to help someone. I may not console them for their tragic loss of life, but unless we are actively feuding, I will never walk by a corpse.
Further, if I see someone on the ground or stunned in combat I will usually seek to disable the monsters in the room to make sure they live. I wont stick around even for a thank you, its just seems wrong not to.
I rather keep my conflicts completely with the character's persona. I believe ignoring a corpse of someone, in all but extreme circumstances is bad form as a player. Again, I can see how others could differ on this.
Maybe a possible solution is to mock him on the net, but still alert others that he is dead and down?
"It would seem So-and-so has found yet another way to end his existence. Someone wish to remove his corpse from my presence?" Better than nothing.

On the kobold cleric: She is of a halfling race, but has on so many Kobold things it's crazy. She has halfling hands, feet, mask, etc. It's totally passable. And besides, if you don't want to believe she's a kobold, believe she's a halfling with an identity issue.
On dead bodies: As an empath, I usually help anyone I come across. Like someone said, if I dont' have an affinaty for them, I'll throw some LK in them, drop a thought, and move on. The man who was with my ex-wife (In game, of course) would die frequently.. and I'd fog to him, maybe LK him, fog him back, then make it very obvious I had no intention of healing him at all, and would prefer if he remained dead. So helping people you don't like can even be fun. Though after it progressed into me hating him passionatly, I won't even acknowledge his existance, dead or otherwise.
However, I do not, NOT, believe any cleric or empath has any responsibility when it comes to anyone injured or dead. We do not owe anyone anything, period. If they want healing, they are at the mercy and patience of the empaths available. If they want life, they're subject to the effects of any lazy clerics who don't feel like raising. There is no point where anyone should start to whine, complain, demand, etc. over any empath/cleric not willing to perform their talent. That has to be my biggest pet peeve of being an empath. Anyways.. I"m done babbling now.
Kudos to you Mike, I hate those people who are like "I'm a cat, I'm a fairy, I'm a so and so cuz I have a tail" and they are a friggin giantman. RPing against the grain is worse than not RPing.

Next time he asks for spells, swallow the fine and Major Lightning (if you're a wizard) or DC (if you're a sorcerer) him. He won't ever ask you for spells again, and if he does, Hand of Tonis or Mind Jolt him. Of course, then you can start removing limbs (if you're a sorcerer).

<<Warclaidhm is 12 years old, and i think for a kid of his age he's brave enough to handle all of these brutal comments.. just an opinion though>>
True, but he brings the majority of it onto himself by the way he acts. I don't dislike him or think he's a bad person, but he is a bit...ignorant and unable to grasp the concept of why so many people think he's annoying as all hell. Same with Haashek....he just can't understand why people think he's such a joke of a warrior and doesn't seem to realize that the reason people think he's such a flaming wuss is because he acts like a flaming wuss all the time.
The difference though is Warclaidhm is most likely around 12 or 13, where I'm pretty sure Haashek is an adult (or of adult age anyway).

Kids like you are the reason this board thrives.
GS should have an age requirement.
GS4Gurl
08-13-2003, 04:59 PM
Why should GS have an age requirement? I've seen 10 yr olds act more mature than 30 yr olds. Me included. I am an adult but sometimes when I play a certain character I want to be a little pain in the ass brat. I have another character who is a total bitch and proud of it. AND ITS SOOO FUN! Now there are those like Warclaidhm who are not trying to be a brat or a bitch... he just is naturally. And that well is.. sad. BUT FUNNY AS HELL! Cus he makes for good shredding material.
Atheana is great fun to mess with too. Cus she's so easy to poke at.. maybe she likes it I dunno. I do feel she's growing thicker skin and becoming more mature at handling it though which takes away some of the fun, dammit! I will have to pick on her some more to see.
Okay done rambling.

Personally, i have never had either a problem with Warclaidhm or much contact with him, just his normal BS begging at the Dais wich i can pretty much ignore. Untill yerserday that is, now that bag of puss owes me.
see, I decide to move one of my characters up to Logoth just to see what's up there, and for the hunting in the troll burial ground. So, get some silver for the trip, a note for some spending cash, and off I go. Don't see a soul the entire trip, untill I get to the ferry (and check to see if i have the entire amount for the trip while i'm waiting for it to dock) Yup all there, 1010 silver.
Ferry docks, i get on, and Warclaidhm is on it, he didn't get off, so i figured, eh...he fell asleep, he'll have to get off after it gets back to the Landing side of the river. Anyway, get to the other side, continue on, get to the carts..and guess what, not enough silver to buy a ticket...seems i only have 670 silver. That puss bag was riding the ferry back and forth and stealing from the folks on their way to the Nations. So just a heads up slimebag...be looking for me...cause i'll be looking for you.
Methais
08-14-2003, 11:24 AM
I'm not sure if he'd be clever enough to think of something like that. Was most likely someone hiding in the shadows. Even if he singled in pickpocket since level 0 he wouldn't have enough ranks to not get caught after a few attempts.
I'm pretty sure you can hide on the ferry but I don't remember for sure.
Slider
08-14-2003, 11:50 AM
I don't think you can hide on the ferry, and as for catching him, heh...i'm a pick-pockets dream, have all of 20 ranks in it perception. Don't mind it so much in-town, i know i'm a target, why i put my silvers in the bank instead of my pockets. And the fellow who gave me enough silver to finish the trip told me he was still riding the ferry 20 minutes later, soo...
And to that person I talked to on the trail, I owe ya, thanks for the silver. Ever up in Logoth, look me up, i'll pay ya back. Wish we had had the time to go back and take care of him then and there.

Actually perception plays a very small role in catching a thief, if anything at all. Pickpocket skill is what you'll need to catch a thief in your pockets. At least til GS4 anyway, then it'll probably require a combination of spell aiming and combat leadership.

The only two problems I ever see with warclaidhm is he's got terrible social skills at times (i.e. asking ardwens wife why ardwen is mean...) And that he tries to merchant things at high prices. These are my two responses.
1. he's OBVIOUSLY autistic (look up aspergers syndrome...it's seriously not his fault). He can't be twelve or he'd be too stupid to spell things correctly yet alone play the game.
2. An item is worth what it can be sold for

Fish spine swords kick ass. They're more crit-weighted than a greatsword, lighter, and you can use a shield with them.
They're just 1.1 million -.-

This would be due to the fact that greatswords aren't crit weighted.

They've got more natural weighting than, say, a broadsword.
Methais
08-26-2003, 12:52 PM
Uh, no they don't. A higher damage factor yeah. Crit weighting? No.
That's like saying major shock has more crit weighting than minor water. The DF is higher but there's no weighting there.
Just use a claidhmore if you're a 2 hander. Or even better, use a Warclaidhmore!

I'd prefer a short sword atm. But only so I can ambush without that 7 second RT.

What training are you Bob? I know her player and this is a lie simply because Aelotoi is only in her second training and is pretty much a locker character. She has never hunted and the most she's ever done was run messages. If you're going to lie about someone at least make sure that they're old enough to have even been in an area where they could see you dead.
On top of that she's spent MAYBE a total of 5 hours in the lands since her creation.
