And now the quick reply button is hanging. I have to go through 'advanced' in order to get a post to post. :(

I received a copy of the database errors. I'll send out an e-mail to the hosting company letting them know of this problem since it's purely a connection issue.

Database errorThe The Gemstone IV Players' Corner database has encountered a problem. Please try the following:
Load the page again by clicking the Refresh (http://forum.gsplayers.com/search.php?searchid=1262131#) button in your web browser.
Open the forum.gsplayers.com (http://forum.gsplayers.com/) home page, then try to open another page.
Click the Back (javascript:history.back(1)) button to try another link. The forum.gsplayers.com forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them (kranar@hotmail.com) if the problem persists.
We apologise for any inconvenience.

Getting these again as well as connectivity issues, delayed page loading and prolongued search times.

Trying to brute force the page to load by rapid firing the load/refresh button will only get your IP blocked by the host.

:(

Hopefully this host site doesnt cost you too much if at all.

If our database is getting too big for free hosts to host effectively, I dont mind considering an insignificant amount as a subscription fee/yearly fee.

Aside from creating work for admin to receipt in payments and approve new paying members, it would really keep out the idiots who create accounts just to be idiots.

Hell you could even route payments through paypal and avoid merchant/shopping cart fees which can be expensive. (As I am finding out while setting up the website/merchant portal for my e-business)

I guess we wouldn't be seeing you around anymore, then.

oooooooh burnnnn (not really).

I've already donated to Kranar's efforts here on the PC, I certainly wouldnt mind donating again if it meant improved performance and more quality posters (something that seems to escape you).

You could always ask for allowance money from your parents if you really wanted to continue to post should that become a reality. ;)

It's not too much of a pain to wade through when it's long loading times etc, but I definately would contribute if it meant improved performance and a small help to Kranar who's keeping up a pretty solid forum and for quite some time.

This forum doesn't utilize free hosting ... at least it didn't. Outside of that, turning it into a private forum is akin to pre-paying for the death certificate.

Paypal donations have always worked in the past.

I'm in for donations if that'd help the issues that have been going on.

I'm sorry, what did you write? At first glance, it looked like the writing of a child, so I didn't really read it. Please write like an adult, and we'll go from there.

I guess the pay-to-post system wouldn't keep idiots like you out.

Ahh, the lofty poster approach. How..... predictable. I suppose I should feel insulted, unfortunately for you I'm not.

When you can post substantively over a few sentences then we'll actually have discourse that goes beyond mere entertainment. Until then, thanks for the laugh.

(This is me laughing AT you.)

Joins a few days after he was banned, from his posts its pretty clear he does not play gemstone regularly, and has the same strange desire to pointlessly comment in every thread.

Please initiate a full investigation kthx.

Also, I wouldn't make this a private forum it would take a lot of people away and business. Although making a clear place where you can donate wouldn't be a bad idea.

Trust me, I hate this server but I prepaid for a year. Luckily that year is coming to an end. Switching servers is a process that pains us all as we'll likely experience 3-4 days of down time.

Enough is enough though.

Gan
05-14-2008, 10:35 PM
Withdrawal for 3 to 4 days will suck. But I'm all for it if it gets rid of this server/host.

I might schedule an out of town trip for that time. ;)
Head up to the country and away from the internet and all things civilized.

I got a new host. Going to go with Yahoo. I don't much care for Yahoo but based on the reviews I've read, Yahoo has the highest reliability and of any host and is also the fastest.

Now as for when we'll do the switch, I'd like to do it over a weekend, either the 7th of June or the 14th. The downtime is expected to be 2 days.

Seriously though, I vote for the 14th (if we're allowed to vote on it, heh).

Glad we're moving soon.

I'm getting some really wonky dbase errrors when I try to post this morning.

*I'm getting error notices (posting errors) when I hit submit and the new posts/today's posts command keeps pulling up my previous search result. :(

Showing results 1 to 25 of 84
Search took 0.24 seconds; generated 30 minute(s) ago.

I keep getting database errors every time I want to search. Did Mabus finally post the Obama-Thread-That-Broke-The-Server's-Back?
