A while back a trial account (i suppose) was opened in Plat, with the character name of Vellond. The player has since quit and moved on to greener pastures.

If anyone knows who this might have been, could you please let me know..privately or publicly? Or if that player is out here, that would be fantastic...

I just have a quick question for you that's very important to me.

Thanks :)

You make me cry :P

Actually i'm asking because Vellond was a trial account into platinum, who came into Ebon's gate and won the Steel Short Sword...then quit right afterwards.

I'm trying to get in touch with him to see if he gave it to anyone, or if he let the sword just rot with his trial account...It seems a shame to let one of the coolest weapons released in the past few years to go the way of so many more plat auction items.....canceled trial accounts..

How quickly we all assumed it was cyber.

Hmm. Well...maybe folks need to analyze why this happens.

Because plat costs way too much.

Plat is only 10 dollars more a month than Premium. Its really not that huge of a jump if you are already a Premium customer.

Premium also costs way too much.

That $120/yr pays for 11 months of WoW.

You can make 50 characters across how many servers WoW?

LMingrone

...and that's $120 on top of the normal fees.

Ignot

Once again....

$120 a year invested @ 8% taking account for inflation over 20 years = 4,484.71

That is alot of money for a little upgrade on an online text game.

I wish I could figure out where you came up with that figure.

I pity you Bob. I really do.

Bobmuhthol

Well, I got $6,490.07 at 8% inflation over 20 years with a principal and annual addition of $120. So.. wateva.

Ignot

i should have clarified. 8% - 3% for inflation so the FV caclulated using 5%. My bad.

Which is pretty conservative IMO.

Okay then, that makes sense.

I spend $120 a night at the bar.

Shitty that someone would do that to such a cool weapon. Shame it happens all too often however. What's nearly as bad is GM's getting loads of uber shit, then quitting altogether when they eventually burn out (ie, the lightsaber, Celtic's backlog of stuff. Add Sorrow etc to this inevitable list etc).

Aphyd

Yeah, that's one of our biggest gripes right now....the GM's are saying that there's plenty of "uber" gear going into Plat, and that they don't need to release more....the problem is that when an event occurs, 100 people will open free trial accounts, or temporary accounts, just to go...so then you have 100 people to compete with, who most likely won't stay..

I'd say roughly half of the auction items that went out at EG are most likely rotting on canceled accounts.

The GM's don't really see the big picture, they see "Hey, we released it into the game...it's not our fault nobody who actually plays won it"..

We see, "Hey, if it goes to a canceled account, then it's not really in the game for us..."

PSS was prolly the biggest item stealer.

We see, "Hey, if it goes to a canceled account, then it's not really in the game for us..."

what happens when they release more "uber" items and those taht cancelled come back then?

Aphyd

Well, i don't think I've ever seen a free trial that got canceled ever come back...

Generally people who play 3-4 months or more, then quit..will possibly come back eventually..

Personally I wish they would just make it so Trial Accoutns are limited in what they can win...Let the active paid for accounts be able to win the super awesome items...we're the ones who are usually going to stick around.

It sounds kind of elitist, but it's true...

I came back. Not seeing much reason to stay though.

YOU STAY!

I still have my account in Plat, so none of the items that my character won are going to be lost to the cancellation void. I don't quite know why I haven't cancelled it though. I guess I keep figuring I will enjoy it again someday when I get a wild desire to play.
