If anyone hasn't noticed, they just updated the wizard. It downloads automatically when you launch.
Apparently if you've used the Script Timer remover, the update won't install. I think you have to uninstall your wizard and let the launcher install the new one. Sucks.

use your .bak or whatever it's called and change it to .exe and erase the timer
That's my guess

-------------------------------------------------------
Version 2.04 15-Oct-03
-------------------------------------------------------
o Spell lists have been updated to reflect the
magic system changes for GemStone IV.
o Product references will reflect the name changes
for both GemStone III and Hercules & Xena to their
new names GemStone IV and Alliance of Heroes,
respectively.
o The menu item for game help will open the current
game's web-based information page.
o The HX pak files for resources like in-game
artwork have been renamed to AOH on the web page.
The existing files will work as is. The newly
named files do not need to be downloaded as well.
o All games have new default picture window images.

Another feature is Character Profiles. I'm guessing you can change your layout, highlights, etc. for different characters if that's your fancy.
heh they got smart and understand that nobody will be using stormfront

SON OF A BITCH.
If you patch the new wizard with the old patch, you can't run scripts. Which means we're stuck with the script timer until someone comes out with a new patch.

The update downloaded...tried to install, failed and the game opened...I'm still using the script timer remover, but it'll take me 2 minutes to log in everytime, until a new patch is developed.
Not so bad considering all I'm doing is forging right now and I have no desire to do it without the timer removed.

Same here. Having to go through all that crap is annoying.

You know, if you want unlimited scripting...the eScape can do that.

HERE IS WHAT I DID TO FIX THE PROBLEM:
Run the program you originally used to remove the script timer, use the option to restore the old wizard program (The last of the three options). I did this and the program installed fine, updates and all.

Running the script time remover as well and installed the update fine.

Well shit... Now I can't log in on some of my characters and I can on others? it says there's an error and the wizard needs to close when I try on certain characters, but works fine on others.... I patched back to the original but that doesn't seem to be doing anything... great

Alright... I found a way to fix it.
Make a copy of your gemstone folder that's located inside of the wizard one. put it someplace safe (the desktop) then delete the entire simu folder.... go and reinstall the launcher, the update will kick in when you go to play. After that works, delete the gemstone folder inside of the new wizard one, and move your old gemstone folder with all your scripts and highlights there so you still keep them.

Does the timer work if you do that?

No idea about the timer, It was in the original folder I deleted, I may dl it again later and see if I can patch the new one. I figured I would purge everything and start anew.

Yep, you've always been able to save individual instances of the Wizard.
I believe character profiles are profiles of each and every character in the game. If you wish to know what and who say Morstanya is, you will type Profile Morst and a little dialogue will appears telling you, Name, Profession, Race, and even level I believe.

But we could do that before in Beta. You had options, you could also have a quote, your strongest foe vanquished, society affiliation (don't know how they worked that), House affiliation, deity affiliation, and I believe guild status. Unless the update is to show pictures or something, I don't think that's related.
