Simu and Tracking?

Hey guys.

Not sure if this is the right forum. It is a bit of a bitch or complain, but also a question. Its more technical about how Simu's front end works, rather than the game itself.

Strange thing happened. I was on a different computer and decided to download stormfront so that I could play while at someone elses house and found that when i downloaded and connected to the server, all my stormfront settings AND scripts were there.

Im guessing simu tracks this information and keeps it on their server? Dont like that. Anyways, I also noticed in my Peerguardian watch log that there is a program called saavis communicator, which when its left blocked, i cant connect to Gemstone. Another reason for me to believe they have a sniffer.

I dunno. Anyone know exactly whats going on?

Uhm.

When you save your StormFront settings and scripts to the Simu server, they tend to get stored there. I'm surprised you didn't already know that you were saving to the server.

Saavis is the hosting company Simu uses, they are well known for not really caring if spammers use their system so that's why they are blocked.

Careful simu will steal your cc info and buy hookers with it.

If you don't trust them to store your scripts and highlights, why the fuck are you giving them your credit card info?

You can store your SF stuff on your local drive, I'm pretty sure it's in the options.

Yup, you have the option of saving ALL your settings LOCALLY or on THEIR SERVER.

If you don't like the idea that they know what you have, etc. Go into Options > Settings > Locations

You can change what everything is stored there. Also note, that once your scripts take a certain amount of space, they will automatically be stored locally.

Where are they on your machine?

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\StormFront

Obviously, Owner is different if your Windows User name has a different name.

All of them are XML files.

Only been using StormFront for a few weeks now. I dont really know the ins and outs of it quite yet.

It just seemed weird that PG kept blocking and then I see my scripts on a different computer. I didnt know if it was Simu or third party type thing thats installed with it.

And to arthas, I think giving Simu my cc information is different than if they allowed a third party data tracker to be installed with their program, in my opinion.
