I don't know if this sort of thing makes anyone else "pull out their hair angry" but this certainly pisses me off.

Skill name Mnemonic Ranks
Shadow Mastery smastery 5
Level: 47
You adjust your gear comfortably and feel satisfied that you are not encumbered enough to notice
Dexterity (DEX): 100 (40) ... 100 (40)
Agility (AGI): 100 (35) ... 100 (35)
Stalking and Hiding................| 198 98

and specters are level 14...

>hide
Roundtime: 2 sec.
You attempt to blend with the surroundings and feel confident that no one has noticed your doing so.
HR>stance off
...wait 1 seconds.
HR>stance off
The specter sniffs around looking for something.
The specter discovers you in your hiding place!
A specter growls an evil incantation!

It seems like it can sniff me out about 100% of the time, so, I want to know... is there a point where your character understands the concept of hiding down wind? Or will a capped rogue's ability to hide STILL be limited by creatures like this?

Undead and animals have ungodly perception. And I doo believe most undead auto finds everyone, I could be wrong, but I don't think you can hide from a banshee. So looks like spectres are the same.

Yes. Undead are just impossible to remain hidden from.

Get used to being pointed out with only 2x in hiding... It will happen a lot.

I know 2.5x isn't enough to stay hidden from griffin's. Even with 5th rank of SMASTERY.

Try 3x hiding with 5 ranks of shadow mastery. I'm starting to see some success at 87 trains against griffin hiding unless they start searching. I'm getting really good at sneaking by them before they can search me out. :)

I hide pretty well from everything with 2x hiding. Never had a problem, not even from lesser griffins. No idea on OTF yet.

Undead and Pinefar are the exception.

There was a GM post stating the gremlocks are the second-best critter in the game at finding hiders.

I think he also said the rabid guard dog was #1.

I can actually hide with great success from gremlocks unless I have wounds. I think my age and hiding ranks is now sufficient enough to surpass their initial searches. However, after you get a few minor wounds, they'll sniff you out regularly.

I hide fine from rotting corpses around Ro'aters. And I only 2x in hiding.

with 2x hiding and other ranger hiding spells I can remain hidden from just about everything in OTF except war griffins and half the time with the ithzir scouts

:DI could swear that back in the day, even skeletons and other level 1 undead would auto-reveal you.

Perhaps it was living critters being referred to, the GM post was a few years ago.
